Discover Saint-Nabord
Accommodation in Saint-Nabord
Saint-Nabord brings together woodland, ponds, marked trails, and a Maison du patrimoine. If you would like to plan a stay around nature, outdoor activities, or culture, you will find a range of themes here: bodies of water and geological features give the landscape its distinctive character, while designated routes provide specific activity options. You can also get a glimpse of the homes and everyday life of earlier times. When choosing your destination, you can consider which of these themes matters most for your trip.
Nature and geological features
The forest of Saint-Nabord covers more than 2,089 hectares. The Étang de Huchère lies in the heart of the state forest. You can visit the pond independently and free of charge via marked trails. As local conditions may change, it is advisable to check the situation before your visit.
Another natural destination is the Étang de la Demoiselle, a 15-hectare pond of glacial origin. It is recognized as a Natura 2000 site. This recognition relates to the reproduction of insects and to seven documented animal species of national and regional interest. A circular trail runs around the pond, and information boards explain its fragile ecosystem. This means the focus is not only on the size of the body of water, but also on the nature it protects.
The Moraine de Noirgueux offers another geological highlight. It consists of four moraine ridges formed by a glacier around 15,000 years ago. An educational trail at the moraine is connected to the local history of the Second World War. Geological formation and more recent local history are distinct themes here: the ridges reflect the landforms of the Ice Age, while the trail points to the history of the 20th century.
Routes for cycling, hiking, and walks
The mountain biking trails of Saint-Nabord cover almost 90 kilometers of marked routes in total. There are four starting points at Les Perrey or the Arboretum, and the routes pass through the municipality. The mountain biking trails are considered suitable for families as well as experienced mountain bikers.
The trail center combines mountain biking routes, the TSN, and marked trails maintained by the Club Vosgien. It includes six marked loop routes starting at Stade des Perrey; one is designated for Nordic walking. If you plan to take one of these routes, check its availability locally.
For an individual hike, specific route details are available for “La stèle de Noirgueux”: it is 11.2 kilometers long, takes 2 hours and 45 minutes, has an elevation gain of 114 meters, and is marked with a blue disc. These figures give you an idea of the time and elevation involved. They differ in scope from the overall distance given for the mountain biking trails and help you assess each activity more specifically.
A look inside the Maison du patrimoine
Since 2006, the Maison du patrimoine has been located in the village center, in a former 18th-century rectory. It displays furnishings from a kitchen and dining room dating to the early 20th century, including furniture, dishes, and kitchen utensils. The building and exhibition thus reflect different periods: the former rectory dates from the 18th century, while the everyday objects on display date from the early 20th century. If you are interested in local history, this contrast offers a tangible way to connect with the place.
Panoramic views of Remiremont
The Belvédère de Montiroche offers panoramic views of Remiremont and has a built-in bench. The viewpoint is accessible from the Rond Caillou parking lot, which is in the municipality of Saint-Nabord. You can take this access point into account when planning your visit. As parking regulations may change, check the parking situation before you go.
