Discover Comprégnac through its cultural history, regional produce and activities on the Tarn. In Peyre, the former church beneath a rocky overhang and the village’s architectural history shape the landscape. La Maison de la Truffe combines a medieval building with tastings and locally made products. This gives you several options when planning your trip: heritage, truffles or activities on and in the river.

Peyre: Rock and heritage

The former church of Peyre is located beneath a natural rocky overhang at the foot of a cliff. Today, it is used for craft exhibitions. This building brings together a distinctive setting and a contemporary cultural use. Peyre is also designated as one of the «Les Plus Beaux Villages de France» and as a «Site Remarquable de France et d’Europe». These two classifications give the village a special place among Comprégnac’s cultural attractions.

La Maison de la Truffe: architectural history and culinary delights

The La Maison de la Truffe building dates back to the Middle Ages. It is a remnant of the former castle of Comprégnac and forms the northwestern corner of the former fortified site. Here, architectural history can be combined with a culinary discovery: visitors can sample ice cream with black truffle and buy locally made truffle products. Both the historic building and the truffle products take centre stage at La Maison de la Truffe. If you are interested in both, you can discover two different sides of the village at the same address.

Trails through the landscape

Trail N°05 - Peyre / Le Causse Rouge crosses the Causse Rouge plateau, which lies between the Tarn and Muse valleys, and reaches the heights of Peyre. The route’s views include the village, the Tarn valley and the Millau Viaduct. The mountain bike route «VTT N°65 - Navas» offers a different landscape: it starts at Parking du Rocher above the village of Peyre and passes through mineral landscapes and deciduous forests. Along the way, it showcases some of the region’s most beautiful cazelles. These traditional caussenard shepherds’ shelters are a distinctive architectural feature of the landscape.

On the Tarn

From its base at the KATALPA campsite in Comprégnac, Katalpa Canoe offers trips down the Tarn by canoe, kayak and stand-up paddleboard. Routes are available in lengths of 7, 12 and 18 kilometres, so you can compare the options by distance. Some routes pass beneath the viaduct and alongside the village of Peyre, which is partly built into the rock. These routes bring together river activities and striking sights of the surrounding area. You can start by comparing the stated route distances to decide which of the three lengths suits your plans.
