Entraygues-Sur-Truyère can be explored through a wide range of activities: a viewpoint above the town, hiking trails from a three-hour outing to multi-day circuits, cycling options, and river and cultural activities. When choosing where to stay, you can decide whether your plans will focus on views and a tour of the town, longer routes, or activities involving water and culture.

Views and the bridge over the Truyère

The Panorama du Calvaire is located above the town and offers views of the confluence of the Lot and Truyère rivers and of Entraygues-Sur-Truyère. You can reach it by car via the Cambeyrac dam; from there, a short footpath leads to the viewpoint. The restored 13th-century Gothic bridge crosses the Truyère and is open to pedestrians and cyclists. The V86, the cycling route along the Lot Valley, also uses the bridge.

Hikes and walks

The “Des coteaux à la vallée du Lot” route starts and ends at Quai du Lot. It is 12.03 kilometres long, takes three hours and includes 494 metres of ascent. The route ranges in altitude from 238 to 459 metres and is rated moderate. Check trail conditions before setting out, as conditions can vary by season.

The GR de Pays “Lo Camin d’Olt” offers a different time commitment: it starts in Entraygues and includes two circuits through the Lot Valley and the Truyère gorges. The trails are maintained by the ONF and CDRP and marked in yellow and red. Both circuits can be completed in five or six days, with meals and accommodation. Check the trail markings on site. Compared with this multi-day tour, the three-hour “Des coteaux à la vallée du Lot” route is a much shorter hiking option.

To explore the old town, the “Découverte de la vieille ville d’Entraygues” walk starts at the tourist office and follows the signposted points 1 to 21. Visitor guides are available in French, English, Spanish, German and Dutch.

Cycling routes and river activities

The FFC “Entre Gorges Lot et Truyère” mountain biking area includes 170 kilometres of signposted trails, with eleven green, blue, red or black circuits. You can start in Golinhac, Entraygues, Couesques or Pons. The ONF and the local VCLT club maintain the trails. As the trail map may be updated, it is a good idea to check the latest information before setting out.

Culture and sightseeing

In Couesques, near Entraygues-Sur-Truyère, the Espace EDF Truyère is housed in the former control room of the Couesques hydroelectric plant, dating from 1950. The centre explores the industrial heritage of the Truyère and Lot and the connection between water and energy. Visits are guided only and require advance booking.

The Stoltz organ is also part of the town’s cultural offerings. Since 2014, it has hosted around a hundred concerts, including film concerts featuring a screening of a silent film accompanied by an organist’s improvisation. If you are planning a visit around a concert, check the programme for your preferred date.
