Flagnac combines cultural history with activities on the Lot. The Hier un Village show adds a seasonal highlight; a cycling route, water sports centre, fishing and a hazelnut orchard appeal to different interests. When planning your trip, it is therefore worth considering your preferred focus and its timing requirements separately.

Hier un Village in summer

Every year in July and August, the Hier un Village show takes place in Flagnac; the exact performance dates vary from year to year. The show is staged in a natural amphitheatre with 3,000 seats. If you want the show to determine your travel dates, check the performance dates for the year you plan to visit.

Through stories of farm work, the changing seasons and the memories of earlier generations, Hier un Village portrays life in a rural village. The production features sound, lighting, pyrotechnics, image projections and lasers. Its themes ground the performance in rural life, while the technical elements shape how it is presented.

Church and Château de Pagax

Château de Pagax was an important fortress in the Middle Ages; around 1259, it was converted into a château. Construction of the Church of Saint-Martin de Flagnac began in 838 under the direction of the monks of Conques.

Saint-Martin also houses a processional cross and a reliquary monstrance dating from the 15th century. This makes it possible to distinguish three specific time periods: the church’s construction beginning in 838, the conversion of Château de Pagax around 1259, and the religious objects from the 15th century. Visitors interested in history can therefore consider architectural history and religious objects as separate aspects rather than placing them in a single period.

Cycling route and activities on the Lot

Flagnac lies on the La Vallée du Lot à vélo cycle route between Aiguillon and La Canourgue. The Lot also has a water sports centre offering canoeing, kayaking, pedal boats and a slipway for boats. Fishing is possible year-round at Bief du Lot No. 2 near Flagnac.

Your choice of focus therefore depends on whether you are looking for a cycling route between places, a range of water sports in one location, or an explicitly year-round fishing opportunity. The cycle route, the activities at the centre and fishing represent different ways to include activities in your travel plans.

Hazelnuts and visits

At Les noisettes d'Olt, guided visits take you through the orchard and explain the annual hazelnut cycle. The presentations end with a tasting of the orchard’s own products; you can buy products made there at the farm shop. As visit arrangements may change, check the current options in advance.

The planning considerations differ too: for Hier un Village, the performance dates in your chosen year matter, while fishing is described as available year-round. A visit to the orchard combines an explanation of the hazelnut cycle with a tasting and a farm shop.
