Réquista brings together bastide history, religious architecture, plant-based textile dyeing and places to visit within the municipality. When looking for a hotel for your stay, you can plan around whether you are most interested in historic sites, crafts, market life or spending time by the Tarn. Check the relevant conditions for seasonal tours and visits that require reservations.

Bastide history and church architecture

Réquista was founded as a bastide in 1292 by Henri II, Count of Rodez, and granted privileges. An important landmark in the town’s history is the Notre-Dame de Pitié church, also known as Notre-Dame de Landorre. The chapel later became Réquista’s parish church. The church was completely rebuilt in 1894; its Neo-Gothic bell tower was built in 1927–1928. This sequence highlights different chapters in the building’s history: its later role as a parish church, the 19th-century rebuilding and the construction of the tower in the early 20th century.

Plant dyeing, tours and the market

Cazelle in Réquista is home to the Aveyron’s first dye garden. It is dedicated to plant-based dyeing and artisanal know-how. Tours introduce plants that provide natural dyes for textiles; this offer may be seasonal. The introductory indigo-dyeing workshops are open to everyone: you make your own piece and can take it home. Workshop dates may vary by season; check current availability before your trip.

The Marché Ovin also offers a practical insight: free tours take place on Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. in July and August. Tours can also be reserved outside the season. As this is a seasonal program, it is advisable to check current dates and arrangements before you arrive. Separately, you can plan around the sheep market’s weekly schedule: it takes place on Monday mornings; if Monday is a public holiday, it is held on Tuesday. If the market day is important to your plans, check the local calendar.

Check the reservation conditions before your trip so you can plan your visit accordingly.

By the Tarn and at the Plaine des sports

If you would rather spend time outdoors, the Lincou tourist site in the municipality of Réquista has a walking trail along the Tarn. There are numerous picnic spots and shaded places to rest along the circular route. This lets you combine walking the trail with designated places to take a break, without needing to plan for a particular walking time.

The Plaine des sports in Réquista brings together a range of sports and leisure facilities: these include a tennis court, a multi-sports court with an athletics track, a skate park, a boules court, a fitness trail, a table tennis table, a beach volleyball court, two picnic areas and play areas for children. Depending on which facilities you would like to use, you can check the local conditions before your visit.

Planning your stay
