Discover Barbotan-Les-Bains
Accommodation in Barbotan-Les-Bains
Thermal baths, Lac de l’Uby, marked trails and church routes offer different ways to experience Barbotan-Les-Bains. When planning your trip, you can choose between thermal history, leisure by the water, scenic routes and cultural heritage. Consider which of these themes you would like to prioritize during your stay.
Thermal baths and a long thermal history
The Spa Thermal de Barbotan covers an area of 400 m². The Thermes de Barbotan specialize in rheumatology and phlebology. The thermal baths were already used by the Romans in antiquity. This Roman use gives the site a historical connection; rheumatology and phlebology identify the Thermes’ areas of medical specialization. A long history of use and two medical specialties therefore stand side by side, and you can weigh them differently when choosing this destination.
Water sports, hiking trails and events at Lac de l’Uby
Lac de l’Uby covers 80 hectares and lies within the natural area of Vallée de l’Uby. On the lake, Parc de Loisirs du Lac de l’Uby offers opportunities for stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing and pedal boating. These water sports are seasonal, so take the season into account when planning if a particular activity is important to you. The park also includes a treetop adventure course with a zip line over the beach. Nine marked hiking trails start at the Lac de l’Uby leisure complex. The lake hosts various sporting events throughout the year, including the Régates de Cazaubon. So while the water sports are seasonal, sporting events take place year-round. If you are planning a particular activity or want to attend an event, take the season into account or check the event date in advance.
Chemin de Tavernes et du Marais
For a different perspective on the landscape, take the Chemin de Tavernes et du Marais. It runs between marshes and forests along the border of the Gers and Landes départements and continues to Barbotan along a former railway line. The former track is now called Voie Verte du Marsan et de l’Armagnac. Unlike the leisure activities by the lake, this route is characterized by marshes, forests and the former railway line. Its location on the département boundary and its course along the former railway provide two specific geographical and historical points of reference to distinguish this trail from the activities at Lac de l’Uby.
Churches and cultural heritage
The “À la Découverte des 7 églises” route leads to the seven churches of the municipality of Cazaubon-Barbotan-les-Thermes. PatrimoineTour offers an interactive tour of Cazaubon’s historic center and its seven notable churches. Both offer a connection to the churches; PatrimoineTour also takes in the center of Cazaubon. You can focus on the seven churches or include the combination of churches and historic center in your travel plans.
