Discover Ibos
Accommodation in Ibos
Ibos brings together religious architecture, cultural offerings and an extensive forest. Notable landmarks include the Collégiale Saint-Laurent, the Maison des Patrimoines et de la Culture and Le Parvis. The village is laid out in a circular pattern around its Collégiale. When planning your trip, you can explore local history, cultural events and outdoor recreation as distinct themes.
The Collégiale and the village layout
The village of Ibos is laid out in a circular pattern around its Collégiale Saint-Laurent. The nave of the Église Saint-Laurent dates from the 14th century. The upper galleries recall the building’s military use during the Wars of Religion. The apse is also particularly striking: it is unusually large in proportion to the nave. Guided tours of the Collégiale are available to individual visitors. If you plan to take a tour, check the latest dates in advance.
Other traces in the village
Near the Collégiale stands the Chapelle Saint-Roch, another religious landmark in Ibos. Its curved bell tower, with its reverse curves, is characteristic of Baroque art. Inside, wall frescoes depict rural scenes connected with religion. The architectural features differ: the Collégiale is defined by its nave, galleries and apse, while Saint-Roch stands out for its bell tower and frescoes.
The village also has numerous pebble-stone walls built using a distinctive local construction technique. The historic Greenwich Meridian passes through Ibos and by an iron cross erected in 1895. The walls are evidence of a local building style, while the cross marks a specific point along the meridian’s route.
Cultural offerings in Ibos
The Maison des Patrimoines et de la Culture d’Ibos is housed in a renovated traditional barn. Exhibitions are held there throughout the year, alongside conferences, screenings and workshops on history, architecture and regional know-how. The topics span more than one field, and the different formats offer a variety of ways to explore them.
Cinéma Parvis Méridien is a year-round cinema with three screens and the Art et Essai designation. It hosts special film evenings throughout the year. Le Parvis is a Scène Nationale cultural institution in Ibos and houses a contemporary art centre. Each venue has a different focus: film at Cinéma Parvis Méridien, contemporary art at Le Parvis, and history, architecture and regional know-how at the Maison.
Forest, voie verte and getting there
