Les Cabannes: Discover its architectural history and the Cérou
Accommodation in Les Cabannes
Les Cabannes offers several ways to explore its architectural history and landscape: a themed trail, historic buildings and a picnic area by the Cérou. If you’re looking for a hotel for your stay in the village, you can start by deciding which of these aspects interests you most.
A trail connected to the quarries
The Sentier thématique is a circular trail about 1.5 kilometres long. It follows in the footsteps of the city’s builders, who worked in the Garissou quarries. The trail combines a clearly defined route with a theme connected to the quarries and architectural history. The Sentier thématique is part of the PDIPR, the departmental network of walking and hiking trails, and is signposted.
A family activity booklet is available for the trail. You can get it from the town hall, the La Toscane Occitane tourist office, or download it free of charge. Before your trip, check whether your preferred option is available. This lets you plan the circular trail not only by its approximate length, but also by its theme and the accompanying materials on offer.
Pont des Anes and more architectural history
The Pont des Anes crosses the Cérou and lies partly within Les Cabannes. The two-arch bridge is connected to the La Bogne mill. By decree of 19 July 2006, the entire structure was listed as a Monument historique; this also includes cadastral plot B 676 in Les Cabannes. Its connection to the river, its design and its link to the mill offer different ways to explore this bridge.
Near the church stands a medieval fortified tower with a square ground plan. In the village centre, the Church of Saint-Antoine is part of the village’s rich architectural heritage. There is also an iron cross in the church square, which was listed as a Monument historique by decree of 11 August 1975. The dates refer to different things: the Middle Ages indicate the tower’s origins, while 1975 and 2006 are the dates when the cross and bridge were listed.
A picnic area with a view of Cordes-sur-Ciel
There is a picnic area along the Cérou with a view of the town of Cordes-sur-Ciel. This spot adds a scenic aspect to the historic themes: the riverbank, the opportunity to picnic and the view take centre stage. If you’d like to include a stop like this in your trip, it offers a specific point of interest alongside the trail and the buildings.
Choose a travel focus for your hotel search
Your planned activities can be a starting point when searching for a hotel in Les Cabannes. If you’re mainly interested in walking the Sentier thématique, its length, signposting and connection to the quarries are useful points of reference. If you’re more interested in architectural history, focus on the Pont des Anes, the medieval tower, the Church of Saint-Antoine and the cross, each with its own historical context. If you’d like to enjoy the landscape during your stay, you can include the picnic area by the Cérou in your plans. Then compare the details of specific hotel offers with your own travel plans.
