Saint-Beauzile brings together a range of interests: a challenging GRP trek, an outdoor escape game, horseback rides and trails with pack donkeys, as well as handcrafted ceramics. Activities range from a long route to a shorter puzzle trail; Atelier Panthère adds workshops to the mix. For a historical note, there is the work “Le Père éternel,” created in the 17th century.

Hiking, forest and puzzles

The GR de Pays Castelnau-de-Montmiral–Penne is a difficult, 22.6-kilometer GRP trek. The route is listed as taking 5 hours 30 minutes, with 628 meters of ascent and 674 meters of descent. It runs from Castelnau-de-Montmiral to Penne, passing through Le Verdier, Sainte-Cécile-du-Cayrou, Saint-Beauzile and Penne. The route thus connects several places over a challenging, clearly defined distance.

L’Écrin de Jaspe covers 95 hectares of meadows and forest and lies on the edge of the 3,500-hectare Forêt de la Grésigne. Meadows and forest define the grounds of L’Écrin de Jaspe; the Forêt de la Grésigne provides a broader landscape setting.

A shorter option by distance is the “Immersion nature” outdoor escape game. The approximately five-kilometer trail runs through a protected natural landscape and combines puzzles with challenges. The game is accessible on foot or on horseback and is available by reservation throughout 2026. Unlike the 22.6-kilometer trek, this activity centers on a puzzle trail over a much shorter distance.

Horseback rides, pack donkeys and overnight accommodation

Ferme équestre de la Grésigne offers rides by pony, horse or donkey; booking is required. Children, teenagers and adults are welcome, including beginners. You can therefore consider the type of animal and the format of the activity as options in their own right: the focus here is on rides, while other activities in the area involve walks or hikes.

Ânes en Grésigne is particularly suited to families with children. It offers walks or hikes with a pack donkey, which can carry a picnic, tent and tired children. The pack animal thus does more than carry equipment: it can also carry tired children. The focus here is on traveling together with a donkey, rather than on a horseback ride.

Ferme équestre de la Grésigne also offers overnight accommodation for hikers, riders and cyclists. In addition to horseback rides, this provides an overnight option for people traveling on foot, on horseback or by bicycle.

Ceramics and history

At Atelier Panthère in Saint-Beauzile, handcrafted functional and decorative ceramics are made. The studio works with stoneware and porcelain, as well as various modeling and shaping techniques. This puts both the finished objects and the different craft processes in focus. During the school year, weekly modeling workshops are held for teenagers and adults, with occasional workshops also available. Alongside functional and decorative pieces, ceramics enthusiasts can therefore find workshops focused on modeling.

The work “Le Père éternel” was created in the 17th century. Its date of creation adds a historical note alongside the ceramic crafts and contemporary modeling workshops.
