When looking for a hotel in Glisy, you can choose where to stay based on the themes that interest you when travelling. The Marais communal defines the area’s natural character; there is also an art walk, the parish Church of Saint-Léger, a cultural venue created jointly with Longueau, and activities offered by the Aéroclub. These different highlights can help you distinguish between nature, local art, culture and activities when planning your trip.

The Marais communal: wetland and leisure

The Marais communal covers 32 hectares. Its landscape features include ponds, wet depressions, pools and streams, as well as grazed and mown meadows and areas of scrub and woodland. Water, open spaces and trees are all part of this wetland. Its ecological importance is reflected in its designation as a ZNIEFF area and in a small Natura 2000 site.

Two footbridges connect the Marais communal to the towpath along the Somme; it is also linked to the Vélo Route Vallée de Somme. This provides two different route connections: to the towpath and to the cycle route. As the path infrastructure may change, check its current condition when planning your trip.

The Marais communal is also currently used for recreational fishing. A sports course has also been created there, accessible to children and adults. Fishing and the course represent different kinds of leisure: an activity on the water and an opportunity to exercise in the area.

Art walk and culture in Glisy

“Les arbres en sculpture” is an art walk linking the northern and southern parts of Glisy, as well as its eastern and western parts. At strategically important points in the village, the project creates visual pauses and places to rest. These places to stop are intended for Glisy residents and visitors from elsewhere alike. Both the routes through the village and the stops along the way are therefore part of the walk’s character.

The parish Church of Saint-Léger was built between 1876 and 1879 to designs by the architect Victor Delfortrie. It has chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Thérèse. Culture enthusiasts will find several points of interest in the village: the art walk, and the church’s architectural history and chapels.

Glisy and Longueau jointly created the cultural venue “Le Trait d’union”. It supports artistic production, creation, training, mediation and dissemination. It also provides artists in the Amiens Métropole area with a place to work and perform. As well as the art walk and the church building, the cultural offer therefore includes a venue for artistic work and performances.

Aviation activities and getting there

The Aéroclub de Picardie Amiens Métropole offers scenic flights, introductory courses and a flight school. Training covers aeroplanes, gliders and three-axis ULM aircraft. The Amiens-Glisy airfield enables the club to host groups and associations for the aviation activities it offers. Confirm the availability of specific activities directly with the club before your trip.

The “20000 lieues dans les airs” event is traditionally held, and visitors can take scenic flights by aeroplane, glider and ULM. As dates and whether the event will continue need to be confirmed separately, check these details before your trip.

Glisy is served by bus routes L14 and N1. Routes and timetables during the school term may change; check the latest timetable before travelling.
