In Hutthurm, several named routes are available for excursions on foot or by bicycle. The town’s history on the Golden Trail is another point of interest.

Circular Routes from Hutthurm

The approximately 7 km Hutthurm–Fuchsmühle–Auretzdorf circular route starts at the car park by the town hall. A longer hiking option is the approximately 14 km circular route from Hutthurm to the Kremplsberg viewpoint and back. It starts at Hutthurm town hall. Along the way, it passes the Dachsberg Chapel and the Dachsberg spring water.

The two routes can be distinguished by their approximate length and destination: the shorter loop is named after FuchsmĂĽhle and Auretzdorf; the longer one leads to the Kremplsberg viewpoint and back. This lets you consider in advance which route you would like to include in your plans. The chapel and spring water are named waypoints on the Kremplsberg circular route.

Cycling and Historic Routes

A 26.5 km Ilz–Danube–Ilz cycling loop is designated for bicycles from Hutthurm. Its length and route differ considerably from the two circular routes described for walking. Trail conditions may vary, so it is advisable to check conditions before setting off.

Kalteneck is the endpoint of the Danube–Ilz Cycle Route and also a hub for cycling tours and hikes between the Bavarian Forest and Passau. This offers another point of reference for the region without conflating it with the routes in Hutthurm: the local circular routes start at the town hall or the car park there; Kalteneck is named as an endpoint and tour hub.

Hutthurm’s history offers another point of interest: the town lay on the historic Golden Trail. This connects planning today’s routes with the name of a historic route. On your trip, you can choose whether to focus on the routes described here or learn more about the town’s history.
