Lam is one of the three places in the Lamer Winkel; this region comprises Arrach, Lam and Lohberg. When choosing where to stay, Lam offers a range of clearly distinct themes: landscapes and far-reaching views along the Panorama Trail, legends along another circular trail, and wood as an economic foundation, energy source and material. You can choose between the trails according to which theme most appeals to your travel plans.

The Panorama Trail and its views

The 8 km circular trail “La02 (Panorama Trail)” starts at the Lam Tourist Information Office and follows the pavement along Lambacher Straße to Oberschmelz. The route then continues via Himmelreich, Buchet, the Fürstenzeche mine, Berghäusl and Daxenhof, returning to the Tourist Information Office.

A narrow path along the edge of the forest leads through Himmelreich, Buchet, the Fürstenzeche mine and Berghäusl. Along the way, there are repeated views of the Bavarian Forest mountains, reaching as far as the Großer Arber. This circular trail therefore focuses both on its named stops and on the forest edge and far-reaching views.

Legends and wood as other trail themes

The LEGENDary Circular Trail “La” starts at Lam Panorama Park, follows Engelshütter Straße, Holzmühle, Engelshütt and Ginglmühle, and returns to the park. Information boards along the trail tell legends from the Lamer Winkel and the Bavarian Forest. The trail is suitable for pushchairs.

The “All About Wood Lam-Lohberg” nature trail passes through the villages of Lam and Lohberg. It explores wood in three contexts: as a basis for the production of economic goods, as an energy source and as a raw material for creative work. By comparison, the LEGENDary Circular Trail focuses on stories from the region, while the Panorama Trail has a landscape focus, with its views. The themes on offer therefore include far-reaching views, traditional stories, and the economic and creative use of wood.

Lam Panorama Park

Lam Panorama Park is intended to create a connection, as naturally as possible, between the market square and the leisure facilities: the indoor swimming pool, outdoor swimming pool and playground. Its focus is therefore on connecting the market square with leisure activities, while the circular trails described explore their own landscape and subject-based themes.
