Ulrichsgrün: Historic Farms and Hiking Trails
Accommodation in Ulrichsgrün
Ulrichsgrün combines historic farm buildings with hiking trails and a history of glassmaking. Cultural and hiking activities in Waldmünchen add to the range of options for your stay.
Location and accommodation details
The Ulrichsgrün holiday village is located above the district of Ulrichsgrün on an undeveloped plot on a south-facing slope, 560 metres above sea level. A footpath about 1.2 kilometres long leads directly from the holiday village to the centre of Waldmünchen. This makes it possible to assess the holiday village’s location by both its elevation and the approximate walking distance to the town centre.
The holiday village has a table tennis facility, a football pitch and a children’s playground. These details refer to the holiday village; as accommodation details may change, check the current information before making your decision.
The MX2 holiday home model accommodates up to six people and has three separate bedrooms.
Historic farms and traces of glassmaking
At Ulrichsgrün 1 is a historic agricultural complex protected as a listed monument. The barn dates to 1724; dendrochronological dating places the block-built Troadkasten granary in 1787. These dates refer to different buildings in the complex, giving each its own historical context.
At Ulrichsgrün 3 and 3a are a former farmhouse dated to around 1830/40 and a furnished farm chapel bearing the year 1865. The chapel at Ulrichsgrün 3 is a gable-facing building with a pitched roof and a bell turret. Alongside the agricultural complex, the former farmhouse and the building with its distinctive chapel form provide further specific historical points of reference.
The history of glassmaking includes the Grassl grinding mill, one of the glass-grinding mills in the Ulrichsgrüner Valley. It ceased operations in 1964. The Glass Grinder Trail is a circular hiking route in Waldmünchen and the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park, following in the footsteps of the glass grinders. In Ulrichsgrün, it runs along Schützenstraße or past the holiday village.
