Anyone planning a trip to Obertrubach will find a clear focus on hiking, complemented by climbing, natural features and local history. Choose hiking trails by distance and format
The Therapeutic Hiking Trail in the Pitztal is a 5.7 km circular trail near Obertrubach. The 7.6 km Obertrubach Circular Trail is also a loop and is marked with a red circle. The Obertrubach–Signalstein–Obertrubach Circular Trail covers 10 km and starts in Obertrubach. These three routes therefore offer several clearly distinct circular trail distances.
The 21 km Trubach Valley Hike follows a different route: it is a point-to-point hike from Obertrubach via Egloffstein to Pretzfeld. One themed trail is the Trubach Trail “Geology – Culture – Climbing”: the 10.9 km route is rated moderate. The Trubach Valley Hiking Trail from Obertrubach is also described as moderate. It is 20.6 km long, with 181 metres of ascent and 336 metres of descent. This lets you distinguish between circular trails and point-to-point hikes, and also take the elevation gain and loss into account for the two moderate trails.
Obertrubach’s Trubach Valley hiking paradise includes a hiking car park by the town hall at Teichstraße 5. Check local trail conditions before setting out, as they may change temporarily.
Climbing, cliff vegetation and mountain biking
The Obertrubach Climbing Information Center provides information for climbers and people who would like to take up climbing. The center also includes the Jura Garden, which focuses above all on the vegetation growing on cliffs in Franconian Switzerland and throughout the Franconian Jura. Climbing and plant life are thus presented as distinct themes: the Trubach Trail already brings geology, culture and climbing together in its name, while the garden turns the focus to cliff vegetation.
Mountain biking tours are also offered in the Trubach Valley near Obertrubach. Hiking, mountain biking and climbing offer different starting points for planning your trip; the available hiking trail information provides specific distances and, for two routes, a difficulty rating.
Church, chapel and karst spring
The St. Lawrence’s Church complex in Obertrubach has a church tower with an octagonal upper section. The 18th-century Plague Chapel lies west of Obertrubach and can be reached via a hiking trail marked with a red circle. The Obertrubach Circular Trail is also marked with a red circle.
The Trubach Spring is a natural feature at the entrance to the town. It is a karst spring that emerges in several spring pools. Obertrubach thus brings together a variety of attractions: the octagonal shape of the church tower, the history of the Plague Chapel and the spring’s distinctive form. These places complement the hiking trails with specific cultural and natural themes.
