Hohenthann offers you several points of interest: a mention in church history, a freely accessible reading resource, the outdoor pool, and nature and hiking trails. Depending on whether you are more interested in local history, public culture, or outdoor activities, you can focus on different aspects. When planning your trip, you can choose between historical, cultural, and active pursuits.

Local History and Culture

A church in Hohenthann was mentioned in a 1229 document from the Regensburg Cathedral Chapter and was replaced by a new building in 1965. The two dates mark different milestones: 1229 is the documentary mention, and 1965 the later replacement of the building. If you want to place the church’s history in context, you can distinguish the early documentary mention from the new building in the 20th century.

The Buchhäusl adds a different cultural dimension to this historical connection. As an open street library, it is freely accessible to everyone. It is therefore a public reading resource that you can explore independently of the church’s history. If you would also like to include smaller cultural facilities in your stay, the Buchhäusl offers a separate point of interest. It thus provides a present-day focus alongside the historical dates.

Outdoor Pool and Your Stay

Renovation of the Hohenthann outdoor pool included several measures. Three massage jets, a swan-neck water feature, and a new slide were installed. A new children’s pool was also connected to the pool water treatment system. As part of the renovation, access to the outdoor pool was also made accessible to people with disabilities. The work therefore covered both features in the swimming area and the children’s pool, as well as the design of the entrance. If you plan to visit the outdoor pool during your stay, check the current opening hours in advance.

Nature Experiences and Hiking Trails

At the Eichelgarten Nature Trail, information boards provide details about the trees growing there and their ecological surroundings. Its focus is on nature knowledge, with information based directly on the trees and their environment. If you enjoy learning about plants and ecological relationships during your stay, the boards can give your experience of nature a thematic focus.

The Hohenthann Forest Adventure Trail, by contrast, focuses on trying out individual stations. Examples include the senior citizens’ course, a seesaw, a hunter’s stand, and a zip line. This makes it different from Eichelgarten, where information boards provide details about trees and their ecological surroundings. If you are choosing between nature information and an activity with interactive stations, the difference is clear: at Eichelgarten, the boards shape the experience; on the Forest Adventure Trail, it is the stations you can try out.

The municipality of Hohenthann published a brochure about hiking trails in 2009. The printed edition is out of stock, but the brochure is available digitally. You can use the digital version to prepare for your trip; you should not expect to find a printed copy.
