For planning a trip to Stadtprozelten, Henneburg, trails in the Spessart forests and the Main Cycle Route offer specific points of interest. You can combine the history of the castle and town with outdoor activities and choose the focus of your stay according to your interests.

Henneburg: History and archery course

The access road to Henneburg is right in Stadtprozelten, and there are a few parking spaces at the castle. Tours of and around Henneburg can be booked from March to October. Confirm availability in advance with the tourism office and check the local arrangements for your arrival.

The castle’s construction history also gives your visit a sense of its timeline: the imposing keep is the oldest part of Henneburg and dates back to the 12th century. The eastern palas was built in the mid-13th century. If you are planning a tour, take the seasonal booking period into account.

The Henneburg archery course circular route leads from the practice range in the historic castle moat through the Spessart forest, across forest clearings and meadows, and through a beech high forest and ancient woodland. Passing Echoberg, the route returns to Henneburg. Experienced archery instructors from Stadtprozelten offer courses for individuals and groups. Visitors can try archery even without their own equipment; check course availability with the provider.

Hiking trails and outdoor activities

Along the Path of Mindfulness, eight stations with prompts and exercises for forest bathing and Qi Gong lie along the boundary between Dorfprozelten and Stadtprozelten. The path starts at the hiking car park between “Dreikreuz” and “Sellgrund.” It is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments. Check the conditions before your visit and follow the local signs when you arrive.

In addition, extensive hiking trails around Stadtprozelten wind through the Spessart forests. A cycle route runs directly along the Main; from there, you can continue towards Wertheim or Miltenberg. The cycle paths along the Main are relatively easygoing and have no major climbs. Check local trail conditions before setting off.

There is a bicycle charging station at Stadtprozelten railway station, with signs to it within the town. If you are relying on it for your plans, check its current operating status in advance.

A landmark in the townscape

The Old Town Hall was built in 1520, extensively renovated in recent years and extended with an annex for additional functions. It is right next to the town pharmacy and opposite the current administrative building, and is a defining feature of Stadtprozelten’s townscape. The locations of these two neighbouring buildings help you identify the town hall in its surroundings.

Other perspectives in the Miltenberg destination

The wider destination of Miltenberg is a district between the Odenwald and Spessart, with a landscape shaped by deeply incised river and stream valleys. The Stadt Museum explores Miltenberg’s urban and regional history in three historic half-timbered houses on the market square, the Schnatterloch. This regional perspective complements the history and landscape themes you can explore in Stadtprozelten without equating the two sets of attractions.

Miltenberg district’s Cultural Weeks also offer a distinct programme of events: they take place every year from mid-September, with a varied programme. Events include concerts featuring classical and contemporary music, as well as jazz and electronic music. Exact dates vary from year to year; check them if you would like to plan your stay around the event.
