If you’re looking for a hotel in Ipsheim, these different highlights can help you decide what to focus on during your trip.
Hoheneck Castle and the Chapel in the Vineyard
Hoheneck Castle generally cannot be visited inside because seminars are held there. Since 1984, it has served as a youth education centre run by the Nuremberg City Youth Council. Check the municipality’s latest information about dates and access arrangements if you plan to include the castle in your itinerary.
The Chapel in the Vineyard is located among the vines below Hoheneck Castle. Because of its remote location, it is usually locked; it opens for church services and vineyard tours. An inside visit is therefore possible on such occasions. If the chapel is important to you, check in advance for a suitable opportunity to visit.
Design Around the Town
At the Kastenbau in Ipsheim, the monumental building sits quietly in a paved area like a ship in water. The flowing water symbolises time. In this way, the design combines a vivid image with a meaning of its own.
A near-life-size bronze figure of Bacchus was installed at Markgrafenplatz on 11 August 2000. It stands on an oval wine barrel made of local shell limestone and is surrounded by five young sycamore maples. Together, the figure, barrel pedestal and trees form a clearly defined ensemble in the design of the square.
