Bodenwöhr on Lake Hammersee
Accommodation in Bodenwöhr
For a trip to Bodenwöhr, the local attractions can be grouped by interest: art along the shores of Lake Hammersee and seasonal water activities take centre stage, alongside cycling routes and a pilgrimage trail. Different conditions are important when planning your trip. The water activities depend on the weather and season, while the cycling and pilgrimage routes highlight other aspects of the municipality. You can decide whether to focus your stay on art by the lake, a water activity, cycling or the history of the area’s buildings.
Art and water at Lake Hammersee
Twelve sculptures adorn the Art and Water Trail along the shores of Lake Hammersee. The number may change if the installation is updated. The trail offers a distinct focus alongside the seasonal water activities: here, the artworks shape the experience, while the boat trips focus on activities on the lake.
There are two types of water activities to choose from at Lake Hammersee. In suitable weather, raft trips on Lake Hammersee aboard the “Karin I” are available by prior request; in fine weather, they operate until the end of September. At the “Im Seewinkl” bathing area, pedal boats, rowboats and stand-up paddleboards can be rented from May to September in fine weather. The options differ both in type and in how they need to be planned: advance requests are important for the raft trips, while the bathing area offers a seasonal rental choice of various watercraft.
Cycling routes, pilgrimage trail and architectural history
Three circular cycling routes explore the municipality of Bodenwöhr, passing small villages and large, unspoilt woodland areas. The Bodenwöhr Pilgrimage Trail, by contrast, connects the various districts and brings the history of the buildings along the route to life. These offer different perspectives when choosing a route: villages and woodland areas on the circular cycling routes, and architectural history along the pilgrimage trail.
The extensively renovated St. Koloman Chapel is located in Warmersdorf. It is a specific building that adds a historical focus to the trip.
