If you are looking for a hotel in Floß, you can choose a focus for your trip based on the local themes. Alongside architectural and commemorative history, there is a direct connection to the Bockl Cycle Path, a trail with stops for quiet reflection, a garden circular walk and the Doost landscape. Culture, cycling, gardens and nature offer different points of focus for planning your trip. Which of these matters to you depends on whether you want to focus on historic sites, a route or experiences in the landscape.

Historic sites in Floß

The Floß synagogue was built on Judenberg between 1815 and 1817 and is a listed building. It commemorates the former Jewish community and serves both as a monument and a place of worship. The former Pflegschloss dates from 1671/73; the pilgrimage church of St. Nicholas dates from 1722. This makes it possible to trace the local architectural history across several centuries: the Pflegschloss is the oldest of these reference points, St. Nicholas followed around five decades later, and the synagogue marks a later period. The buildings therefore differ both in their dates and in their significance to local history.

Cycling and reflection

Floß lies directly on the Bockl Cycle Path. The Findling Trail starts at the Bockl Cycle Path in Floß and has twelve themed stations for quiet reflection. In the wider Neustadt An Der Waldnaab travel region, the Bockl is a 52-kilometre route from Neustadt an der Waldnaab to Eslarn along a historic railway line. It can be used on foot, by bicycle or on inline skates. Most of it is paved and traffic-free; gradients rarely exceed three percent. Temporary diversions may occur on the Bockl Cycle Path, so it is worth checking the current route before setting out. The two route connections offer different points of focus: the Findling Trail’s twelve stations are for quiet reflection, while the regional Bockl’s length, surface and gradients shape the choice of route.

Garden and directions

The Floß district teaching garden has a circular path of about one kilometre along the Garden of the Senses. The Garden of the Senses also includes a sensory labyrinth spiral. Check the current access conditions before visiting, as they may change. To reach the district teaching garden, take the A93 and exit at Neustadt/WN in the direction of Floß. Before setting out, check whether temporary roadworks have changed the route.

Natural landscape and regional refreshments

Doost is a nature reserve of about 11 hectares within the municipality of Floß. Along a stretch of around 500 metres of the Girnitz, huge boulders rise up. Check the current access restrictions for the protected area before visiting.

A culinary stop is also part of regional route planning: the Upper Palatinate Radl-Welt route includes a visit to the Floß brewery and a chance to try regional beers brewed in-house. If you plan this stop, check the availability of the beers and the serving arrangements in advance.
