Hiking Trails and Landscape Around Immenreuth

The Hundeschule Immenreuth Relaxation Hiking Trail is a 5.7 km accessible, child-friendly circular trail that is also suitable for strollers. It starts at the dog training ground, heads towards Ziegelhütte through the town centre and past the solar power plant, then returns to the dog training ground. Its length, circular route and course provide specific points of reference to help you choose. By comparison, the Flötztal Trail is considerably longer at 15.3 km.

The Tannenberg Trail starts on Bahnhofstraße by the Raiffeisen warehouse in Immenreuth and returns there. Heading towards Plößberg, it continues as far as the Zweifelau sign, where it turns left. At a wayside cross in Zweifelau, it turns left again, descends to the Flötzbach and crosses a narrow footbridge to the Immenreuth–Ahornberg municipal road. Bahnhofstraße and the Raiffeisen warehouse are the starting and return points, while Zweifelau, the wayside cross, the stream and the footbridge mark the route described.

The forest opens up on the north side of Tannenberg. From there, views extend across the Schilmbach Valley to Klausenberg and over to the Flötzrangen. The Flötztal Trail offers other specific points of reference for planning your hikes: it is listed as an easy route, 15.3 km long, taking 4 hours 50 minutes and gaining 370 metres in elevation. Its starting point is the hiking car park between Ahornberg and Hölzlmühle in Immenreuth.

The Gabellohe Trail also starts at the Raiffeisen warehouse and heads towards Plößberg. There are ponds along the railway line; the trail also passes the holiday centre and campsite before reaching Großer Hirschbergweiher. The routes therefore differ not only in their stated lengths, but also in the landmarks mentioned along the way.

The area around Großer Hirschbergweiher and Haidweiher, close to Immenreuth, is a bird sanctuary. Also nearby, on the Flötzbach, is Rotenfels, a rock formation pierced by a tunnel-like opening. Iron was mined beneath the rock in the Middle Ages.
