Schwalbach am Taunus offers several starting points for planning a trip: the Main-Taunus Arboretum, the natural swimming pool, as well as art and historic buildings. If you are looking for a hotel for your stay, you can first decide whether nature, swimming or local history should be the main focus.

Forest Park and Regional Park Route

The Main-Taunus Arboretum covers around 75 hectares across areas in Sulzbach and Schwalbach: 51 hectares are in Sulzbach and 23 hectares in Schwalbach. In the forest park, each group of trees and shrubs represents one of 36 forest regions of the world. These groups provide a recurring theme in the park’s design, bringing the forest regions to life.

The arboretum is used by walkers, joggers, cyclists and horse riders. The Regional Park Route, which is just over 13 kilometres long, runs from the Nidda in Frankfurt’s Sossenheim district to the Opel Zoo in Kronberg and passes through Schwalbach am Taunus. When planning your outings, you can distinguish between the two based on their character: a forest park with several stated types of use, and a route with clearly named endpoints.

Natural Swimming Pool: Pools and Leisure Areas

The bathing area at the natural swimming pool covers 1,340 square metres and has three water areas. The swimming pool is around 550 square metres and 1.90 to 4 metres deep; the non-swimmers’ pool covers around 600 square metres and is up to 1.30 metres deep. The pools therefore differ in both area and depth. The natural swimming pool also has a children’s playground, a beach volleyball court, a football pitch and two table tennis tables. In addition to the pools, there are other areas for play and sports. Seasonal opening may vary; check current opening hours before your visit.

Historic Town Centre and Art

The historic centre of Alt-Schwalbach is home to the Historic Town Hall and St. Pankratius Church. The parish church was built between 1753 and 1756 and extended in 1964/65. Its history therefore includes two clearly dated construction phases. The Four-Gods Stone stands in the square east of the forest cemetery. It is a replica of the foundation of a Roman Jupiter column found nearby, adding a specific Roman connection to the history of the church’s construction.

The El Lissitzky Avenue in Schwalbach am Taunus is a walk-through sculpture comprising 15 tall concrete stelae. Alongside the historic buildings, it brings art into the urban landscape. The options offer different points of interest: architectural history, a Roman motif and a sculpture explicitly described as walk-through.

Further Highlights in the Wider Main-Taunus Destination

In the wider Main-Taunus destination, the region combines the vineyards of the Upper Rheingau with the forests of the Taunus and historic attractions. The Flörsheim Watchtower is one example of this regional heritage: the 15th-century tower recalls the Kastel Landwehr and is a destination for hikers and cyclists. If you plan to hike or cycle there, check the trail conditions locally.

The old town of Hofheim is also a destination in the wider Main-Taunus area. Its winding lanes and historic houses give it its distinctive character, and cafés invite visitors to take a break. Unlike Schwalbach’s buildings, the focus here is on the character of an old town with lanes and houses.
