Discover Logumer Vorwerk
Accommodation in Logumer Vorwerk
Logumer Vorwerk is shaped by its historic village center and the history of the Evangelical Reformed Church. Some buildings in the village center are more than 100 years old. In the shared Wybelsum/Logumer Vorwerk area, agriculture and residential use are among the activities; tourism is also present in some parts. This brings together views of older buildings and an area where present-day uses also play a role.
Local history and the Reformed church
The Evangelical Reformed Church in Logumer Vorwerk was built in 1884, after the former village of Logum had disappeared. The pulpit and bell were brought over from the lost church. The building and its furnishings thus point to different periods in the village’s history: the bell from the former church celebrated its 500th anniversary in 1995, and the pulpit was restored in 1998. Anyone interested in historic churches will find both the construction date of the present building and furnishings passed down from an earlier period, each with its own history.
Art and history in the broader destination of Emden
In the broader destination of Emden, the cultural offering ranges from art to regional history. Kunsthalle Emden mainly presents Classical Modernist art and has an affiliated art school. The East Frisian State Museum Emden offers insights into art and history across around 2,600 square meters; its art and cultural history collection is considered unique in northwest Germany. It includes the Emden Armory, with 400-year-old swords, matchlock muskets, and armor that reflect the city’s former weaponry.
Dat Otto Huus is also dedicated to a distinct cultural theme: it documents the career of Emden comedian Otto Waalkes. Across two floors, visitors can see photos and mementos from his life, films, familiar props from movies and tours, as well as awards and prizes. Art, city history, and the career of a comedian thus offer different points of interest for a visit to Emden.
