Bomlitz
Accommodation in Bomlitz
Bomlitz is surrounded by extensive woodland over much of its area, giving it a distinctly forested character. The EIBIA history, the town’s industrial history, and the hiking and cycling trails offer different focal points for a stay. If you are looking for a hotel in Bomlitz, you can base your choice on which of these themes you want to shape your stay.
EIBIA History and Trails
The EIBIA history and memorial trail presents individual stages of EIBIA’s history with 15 information panels. You can start the trail at one of three locations: the Fuhrenkamp bunker, the filter and pumping station, or the Borg car park. You can factor your choice of starting point directly into your plans.
Four marked circular hiking trails run through the Eibia/Lohheide landscape area, south of Benefeld and Bomlitz, in the vicinity of Bomlitz. An archaeological circular trail also runs through the area. The Borg burial mounds in Lohheide, in the vicinity of Bomlitz, date from 1200 to 1500 BC. The marked circular trails and the archaeology-focused trail offer different points of interest in the surrounding region.
Industrial History in Bomlitz
The Alte Verwaltung Wolff housed the administration offices and laboratories of Wolff & Co. Its sightline is aligned with the Wolff Monument at the estate. The estate is also significant to the town’s history: the original settlement core from which Bomlitz later developed was located in this area.
The Afrika-Haus tells another story connected with Wolff: it was intended as a prefabricated building for the Wolff settlement in Tanzania. However, it could not be transported there, and the house remained in Bomlitz. Together with the former administration offices and laboratories, this story illustrates various aspects of local industrial history.
Tours, Mill, and Current Information
FORUM Bomlitz offers guided tours, hikes, and cycling tours on a range of topics. Alongside the marked trails, there are also guided options focused on particular themes. The Cordinger Mill in Benefeld, in the vicinity of Bomlitz, is an exemplary restored watermill complex and is considered one of the most valuable historic buildings in the Heidekreis district. It is open only for events. If you are planning a visit, check the event dates.
Waldbad Bomlitz is currently undergoing extensive renovation and is due to reopen in 2026. If visiting the pool is important to your plans, check the status of the announced reopening in advance.
