In Nottensdorf, a leisure park, an observation tower, cycling routes and a rural village character offer different ways to explore the area during a stay. Natural features in the surrounding area and other attractions in the wider Stade destination also add to the picture of the town.

Leisure Park and Views Across the Landscape

Nottensdorf Leisure Park is located northeast of the built-up area, along the B 73. It offers a variety of sporting activities and is considered an attractive leisure destination for families. As individual activities may change, check the specific offerings before your visit.

The leisure park includes a 28-metre-high observation tower. From there, the view extends across the orchards of the Altes Land and over the Elbe Valley from Stade towards Hamburg. The tower provides a distinctive feature alongside the sporting activities. Before travelling, check whether access is available for your visit.

Cycling Routes with Different Points of Reference

The Geestrandweg passes through Nottensdorf and runs from Horneburg to the Moore nature reserve near Buxtehude. The Steinroute also passes through the town, between Bliedersdorf and Hedendorf. The two routes can be distinguished by their named points of reference: the Geestrandweg is associated with Horneburg and the moor near Buxtehude, while the Steinroute is associated with Bliedersdorf and Hedendorf.

The Steinroute also highlights various destinations along the way: the Horneburg Handicraft Museum, Isern Hinnerk, Alter Marktweg, the Garden of Stones in Harsefeld, the Daudieck Archaeological Teaching and Walking Trail, Gut Daudieck and the megalithic tombs of Grundoldendorf. This list extends beyond Nottensdorf and conveys the route’s broader thematic scope. As route details may change, check the current route before setting out.

Village Character and Natural Features

Old farmhouses shape Nottensdorf’s village character and give it a rural architectural feel. Im Dohren offers a different aspect of the surrounding area: an old beech forest lies there within a landscape conservation area of about 50 hectares. Daubenton’s bats have been observed at this site. Thus, the village character, forest and protected area offer different themes for understanding Nottensdorf, alongside its leisure and route-related attractions.

Stade as the Wider Travel Destination

In the wider Stade travel destination, the district is characterised by the extensive marshlands along the Elbe, the cultural landscape of the Altes Land, river valleys in the geest and wild raised bogs. These landscapes offer opportunities for local recreation and nature observation. The district also has a signposted cycling network. These regional features add another perspective to Nottensdorf’s specific routes and landscape themes.

Wischhafen offers a distinctive cultural attraction within the Stade travel destination. The Kehdingen Coastal Shipping Museum includes the coastal motor ship MS IRIS-JÖRG, which visitors can see in the listed harbour directly next to the museum. Visitors can also take the Kehdingen seafarer’s proficiency test at the museum. Along the Wischhafen Maritime Walk, signs at many points provide information about maritime topics. Information panels and a flyer available from the tourist information office and museum cover local crafts, trade, and the region’s historic locks and ferries.

The bus connection in Wischhafen may also be useful for travelling to the museum: the Wischhafen, Alter Schulweg stop is about 200 metres away. From there, route 2025 runs to Stade and Freiburg. Check the current timetable before travelling.
