Parchtitz offers several distinct themes for planning a trip: Nonnensee lies nearby; cycling routes pass through named places and forest areas in the municipality, and manor houses add their own touches to its architectural and local history. If you are looking for a hotel in Parchtitz, you can plan your trip around whether nature watching, cycling or cultural history should be the focus of your stay.

Nonnensee and Birdlife

The municipality of Parchtitz borders Nonnensee directly. Visitors and residents use the local recreational area for walks. The lake serves many bird species as a breeding and protected habitat. To date, 80 water-associated bird species have been observed there; 25 species breed at the lake. White-tailed eagles can be seen here, while ospreys are rarer.

A circular hiking trail about five kilometres long runs along Nonnensee and has two observation towers. It can be used to explore the birdlife and for running. The surrounding landscape also includes the Duwenbeek, considered the only natural flowing body of water on the island of Rügen. Thus, birdwatching and the circular trail are the main attractions at the lake, while the Duwenbeek provides a distinct connection to the landscape.

Cycling Routes Through Villages and Forests

A cycling route starts at the B 96 towards Gademow and runs via Willihof and Muglitz through the Boldevitz and Panzevitz forests to Gingst. Route 7, “Westrügen,” is about 29 kilometres long, runs via Boldevitz and Muglitz, and is rated easy.

The information highlights different features: Route 7 has a stated length and difficulty rating, while the route to Gingst is described primarily by its starting point, intermediate places and forest section. This makes it easier to compare the routes depending on whether you prefer a distance figure or a specifically described route for orientation.

Manor House History in the Municipality

Boldevitz Manor House stands in the village of Boldevitz, which belongs to the municipality of Parchtitz. The original building dates from 1635; in the second half of the 18th century, it was extended symmetrically to the south with two two-storey side wings. The manor house’s double gable, typical of the period, is now considered unique on the island.

The hall in the central wing originally contained landscape murals painted on canvas by Jakob Philipp Hackert between 1762 and 1764. They are now in storage elsewhere. The Hackert Hall was restored with support from the German Foundation for Monument Protection. The manor house also has an English landscape park with a swan pond and a Neoclassical chapel.

Reischvitz Manor House is also one of the sights in the municipality of Parchtitz. Its history encompasses a heyday, expropriation in 1945, the period of the agricultural production cooperative (LPG), and its repurchase by the von Platen family in 1991. This sequence offers a different historical perspective from Boldevitz’s architectural and artistic history.
