Discover Laßbruch: Trails, Water and History
Accommodation in Laßbruch
Laßbruch combines green spaces and water features along the Laßbach within the village with a themed hiking trail, an outdoor swimming pool and historical landmarks. If you are looking for a hotel for your trip, you can think of the village in terms of hiking, water and local history. These themes offer different points of reference for planning your trip.
Hiking and waterside activities
The green spaces and water features along the Laßbach shape the village’s character. The “Weg der Sinne” (“Path of the Senses”) themed hiking trail runs along these areas within the village. The approximately 6.9 km route is designed to help you discover Laßbruch and Kükenbruch. The listed starting point is the car park at Laßbruch Cemetery, Lange Straße 2, 32699 Extertal.
At the “Wasserstrudel” (“Water Whirl”) play station, you can turn a hand crank and watch a whirlpool form. Laßbruch outdoor swimming pool has a large pool, diving boards, a paddling pool and a spacious sunbathing lawn. Opening hours are seasonal and may change; check the current times before your visit.
Local history and landscape
The historic barn in Laßbruch was built from bricks in 1907. It has been preserved in its original form, including its roof tiles. The Wehfer family farm, with its barn, used to be a Vogtei, an administrative district overseen by a Vogt. This gives the village a tangible architectural link to its history.
The quarry on Nüllberg in Extertal-Laßbruch is another notable local landmark: it is designated as a nature trail. The historic barn and the designated nature trail offer different perspectives on local history and the landscape.
The wider destination of Extertal
Across the wider destination of Extertal, the landscape is a protected low mountain range featuring fields, broadleaf forests and villages. Well-marked trails support hiking and cycling there. The Extertal area has approximately 250 kilometres of signposted hiking trails. Marketing Extertal e.V. has also established twelve themed trails together with local village communities and heritage associations. Check local conditions when choosing a particular trail.
Another regional trail is the 74-kilometre Hansaweg (X9), a historic trading route and certified quality hiking trail. It runs through the northern Lippe municipality of Extertal and crosses East Westphalia-Lippe into the Weser Uplands. Its length and route set it apart from the approximately 6.9-kilometre Weg der Sinne, which takes you through Laßbruch and Kükenbruch. The five-kilometre Schnattergang, also called the “Wundersame Wesen Weg” (“Wonderful Creatures Trail”), is marked with colourful, artistically designed waymarkers.
Culture is also part of the wider destination of Extertal. Burg Sternberg is a hilltop castle at an elevation of 315 metres in the municipality of Extertal. The Klingendes Museum at Burg Sternberg displays instruments from the Peter Harlan collection. Today, the castle is used for a range of purposes, including cultural events with a focus on music, seminars, workshops and private celebrations. The events programme may change.
