Erndtebrück offers a range of highlights for a stay: roses in bloom and local history, ponds and wildlife habitats, as well as trails for hiking, cycling and winter sports. When looking for a hotel, the purpose of your trip can be a good starting point. The season also matters: the main rose-blooming period falls in the warmer months, while snow and trail grooming depend on the season. The following destinations can help you match your travel dates to your interests.

Rose Garden and Local History

More than 400 different varieties of roses grow in the Erndtebrück Rose Garden during the summer months. Most are historic varieties, and many are very rare; the main blooming period falls in the warmer months. If the roses are important to your stay, take the blooming season into account when choosing your dates. The Erndtebrück Local History Museum offers a different focus: its more than 30 rooms display exhibits on the town’s history and local heritage.

Rösper Pond and Ederauenpark

Rösper Pond lies in the Zinse valley. Several small ponds line the Zinse stream, providing habitats for birds and other animals. In the heart of Erndtebrück, Ederauenpark sits right on the Eder River. The small ponds along the stream shape the scenery at Rösper Pond, while Ederauenpark’s setting directly beside the Eder is its defining feature.

Hiking Trails of Various Lengths

The Rothaarsteig Spur Zinser Grenzpfad is 14.4 kilometres long, with an ascent of 246 metres and a descent of 250 metres. The Family Apple Trail, by contrast, is a circular route of about 6 kilometres for families. It connects nine Erndtebrück playgrounds and features information and games about apples. The routes differ considerably in length; the Apple Trail focuses on playgrounds and apples, while the details for the Zinser Grenzpfad also include ascent and descent figures.

Cycling and Dirt Biking

The 166-kilometre Eder Cycle Route runs from Erndtebrück through the Waldecker Land region, past the Eder’s confluence and on to Baunatal-Guntershausen. The 17.02-kilometre Eder-Quellen-Tour is a regional cycling route in Erndtebrück and part of the wider Siegen-Wittgenstein travel destination. The total lengths illustrate two different scales: 166 kilometres for the Eder Cycle Route and 17.02 kilometres for the Eder-Quellen-Tour. Erndtebrück Dirt Bike Park has a starting hill offering a view over the town.

You can compare the trails by length; ascent and descent figures are also provided for the Dreihernstein trail. Snow and trail grooming depend on the season. Check current conditions shortly before your planned outing.
