Bad Breisig offers you a range of options for your stay: the Römer-Thermen and spa park sit alongside the fairy-tale forest and various trails. The places and activities here can help you tailor your choices to specific interests.

Thermal Baths and Sauna

The Römer-Thermen use thermal water from an on-site spring 600 metres underground. The baths include a large indoor pool, two outdoor pools and an outdoor children’s splash pool. You can therefore treat the different pool areas as separate options when planning your day. The sauna area complements the facilities with five saunas, with temperatures ranging from 60 °C to 95 °C. This gives you specific information about both the number of saunas and their temperature range.

The Römer-Thermen are about a five-minute walk from Bad Breisig station. If you arrive by train, you can factor this walk into your plans. By car, you can reach the baths via the B9 from the direction of Bonn or Koblenz.

Spa Park and Fairy-Tale Forest

The spa park combines green spaces with a range of activities for visitors: it has a large climbing structure and a mini-golf course for children. You will also find a diverse and unusual collection of trees in the park, with information panels explaining details about individual trees. If you would like to explore the park not only as a green space but also with an eye to its trees, you can combine both.

The fairy-tale forest presents 13 fairy tales in painted little houses. Moving, talking figures and music accompany you along the route. There are two signposted walking trails to choose from: the Bad Breisig Fairy-Tale Trail and the Little Bad Breisig Fairy-Tale Trail. Their names give you a clear guide when choosing; both trails are part of the fairy-tale forest.

Hiking Trails and Excursions

The thermal baths circular walk starts at the Römer-Thermen, providing another option for a stay in which you would like to explore Bad Breisig on foot. Another perspective is offered by the section of the RheinBurgenWeg between Bad Breisig and Andernach: it leads to views of several castles and the Rhine Valley, as well as a Roman quarry at Hohe Buche.

For longer hiking plans, the Rheinsteig can be reached from Bad Breisig by ferry. The trail covers more than 300 kilometres and offers scenic views, as well as more than 40 castles and other structures. These details give an idea of its wider scope. Check the ferry timetable when planning your crossing.

The Vulkan-Expreß route offers a different kind of excursion: it runs between Brohl am Rhein and Engeln in the Eifel, crossing viaducts, passing through a tunnel and following a 5.5-kilometre steep section with an elevation gain of 400 metres. You can weigh up hiking trails, viewpoints and a varied route as different interests for your stay.

Culture and Historical Insights

The doll museum is located in the former town hall next to the spa park. It displays dolls and toys that reflect everyday life in the late 19th century. Visits are by appointment; admission is free. If you would like to plan a museum visit, arrange your appointment in advance.

The Art Nouveau Villa Luzia and its surrounding garden have been protected as a historic monument zone since 1981. This offers a different cultural perspective from the collection at the doll museum: here, architecture and gardens shape the theme, while the museum focuses on dolls and toys from a particular period. Together with the spa park, thermal baths and hiking trails, Bad Breisig emerges as a destination where you can put together different daily itineraries according to your personal interests.
