Hiking and Views

The signposted “Grünstadter Himmelspfad” circular trail connects Grünstadt with its districts of Asselheim and Sausenheim. In Asselheim, you can join the trail at the sports ground on Langgasse. If you include the trail in your plans from Asselheim, this gives you a specific starting point. The Himmelspfad offers panoramic views across the Rhine Plain and toward the Odenwald. Fortifications and Sights

Sections of Asselheim’s 14th- and 15th-century fortifications have survived. Weinkerwe in August

Asselheim’s Weinkerwe takes place every year on the third weekend in August. The festival includes a Kerwe parade and a Schubkarchrennen (wheelbarrow race). This gives you a fixed date to plan your stay around a recurring event. Unlike the wine-hiking hut, which serves visitors on weekends and public holidays from April to October, the Weinkerwe is concentrated on a specific weekend in August. If you are planning a particular trip, it is worth checking the event dates and the program for that year.
