Schöneberg lies on a ridge between the Gräfenbach Valley and the Guldenbach Valley. Forests, meadows and vineyards characterize the surrounding area: vineyards lie to the south, and the foothills of the Soonwald to the north. Several hiking trails cross the municipality. If you are looking for a hotel for a trip to Schöneberg, you can focus on nature, viticulture or architectural history.

Hiking, Forests and Vineyards

The Schäfersley and Sonnenberg vineyards lie at the northern limit of the Nahe wine-growing region. A hike through the Steyerbach Valley offers opportunities to observe local flora and fauna at close range. Extensive wild garlic fields are also nearby; how clearly they can be seen varies by season. A forester also invites visitors to take a walk through the centuries-old beech forest. The forest experience center offers one- or multi-day forest education programs for school classes and youth groups.

The Lehnmühle enclave, known for its homemade cheese, is associated with Schöneberg. Check locally in advance for availability and visiting options.

Historic Buildings and Finds

The Catholic parish church of the Finding of the Cross is a Romanesque Revival hall church built of rubble stone in 1895. A different period is represented by the former castle grounds at Schloßstraße 5–11 and 8–12. The historic-preservation zone comprises six farmsteads dating from the 16th century to the first quarter of the 20th century. The former castle house at Schlossstraße 5 is a building with a half-hipped roof, probably dating from 1539 and presumably remodeled around 1686; remains of the circular wall have been preserved.

Other listed monuments are scattered along various streets: Schlossstraße 4 is home to a Baroque half-timbered building and gateway dating from 1688. At Hauptstraße 23 is a late Neoclassical farmstead dating from 1843, with half-timbered sections. A Renaissance portal lintel dating from 1568 has been preserved at Hauptstraße 37. The village fountain near Schlossstraße 3 dates from the 18th or 19th century and was probably restored in the 1920s. A late Baroque wayside cross stands near Hauptstraße 52; it dates from the second half of the 18th century. Finds from a Roman villa rustica with underfloor heating attest to the Roman presence in Schöneberg.

Bad Kreuznach in the Wider Destination

The bridge houses in Bad Kreuznach were built from 1480 onward due to a lack of space. They are half-timbered buildings on the piers of the old Nahe Bridge, which was built around 1300. Since 1985/86, the museums of the city of Bad Kreuznach have been housed in the listed former Bangert manor house, set in a historic park.
