Sippersfeld offers a mix of local history, mountain biking and scenery for a trip. The historic local circular trail, a singletrack in the forest near Sippersfeld and the Pfrimm Spring in the surrounding area each offer something different. If you are looking for a hotel, you can decide whether to include a circular trail, a mountain bike route or a natural attraction in your plans.

Local Circular Trail, Mountain Biking and Pfrimm Spring

The historic local circular trail has 20 stations. It was presented as newly created in 2021. If you plan to walk it, check the current condition of the trail beforehand.

There is a newly created mountain bike trail at Pfrimmerhof. This is different from the singletrack in the forest near Sippersfeld in the Donnersbergkreis, which features root sections and blocks of red sandstone. At these obstacles, you can choose between a more challenging and an easier line.

The Pfrimm Spring lies in the Sippersfelder Weiher nature reserve at an elevation of about 299 meters. It is around three kilometers southeast of the municipality of Sippersfeld and is therefore in the surrounding area. Its distance and direction help distinguish it as a separate natural attraction, rather than equating it with the local circular trail or the singletrack.

Scenery and Trails in the Donnersbergkreis

In the wider travel destination of Donnersbergkreis, the Donnersberg shapes the landscape. At 687 meters, it is the highest elevation in the Palatinate. The mountain covers about 2,400 hectares, is almost entirely forested and stretches diagonally for up to 7.5 kilometers. Its elevation, forested area and extent offer different perspectives, from the highest elevation to the larger landscape.

The hiking trails can also be distinguished by their length and destinations. The Ludwigsturm Circular Trail is 6.7 kilometers long, starts at Haus Linn in Dannenfels and leads to Ludwigsturm. The tower itself is currently closed for renovation work. The stone structure is 26.9 meters high and has 142 steps; from the top, the view extends across the North Palatine Uplands, the Palatinate Forest, the Black Forest and the Vosges. The Wildenstein Castle Ruins Circular Trail is longer at 7.9 kilometers and leads to the ruins of Wildenstein Castle. These two routes, with their different lengths and named destinations, offer options for orientation, while the closure applies specifically to the tower, not the hiking trail.

The Falkenstein Castle Ruins are part of the Donnersbergkreis’s cultural history. They stand on an ancient volcanic vent and were first mentioned in documents in 1135. The ruins and their surroundings provide the setting for the annual Christmas market and the Falkenstein summer tours. The Celtic Village at Donnersberg in Steinbach is a traditionally built farmstead settlement that offers a glimpse of Celtic house-building techniques. It is currently temporarily closed for renovation work.

Eiswoog and the Stumpfwaldbahn

Eiswoog lies in the Palatinate Forest–North Vosges Biosphere Reserve and is described as a year-round natural spectacle. Activities there include boat rides, wading, swimming and hikes around the lake with a nature discovery trail. A paved, accessible path passes a viewing platform overlooking the lake. This means that at the same lake, you can choose between activities on the water and a path with a viewpoint.

The Stumpfwaldbahn runs on a narrow-gauge track about four kilometers long. Passengers can board at Eiswoog, at Bockbachtal station near Kleehof or at Ramsen West. For journeys between Kleehof and Eiswoog, the railway uses converted former mining locomotives. If you are planning a trip, check the current timetable.
