Hübingen is in the Buchfinkenland, a scenic area in the southern Westerwald that is part of Nassau Nature Park. The village combines historic buildings with a varied range of hiking opportunities. Events, family activities, and travel by bus or car may also factor into your plans.

Chapels, Half-Timbered Houses, and Events

Local sights include the Wendelinus Chapel, built in 1808 in the village center, and renovated half-timbered houses. Along the road to Welschneudorf, you will also find the Heiligenhäuschen shrine, built in 1883, a field chapel, and a monument. These varied buildings offer different points of interest on a walk exploring Hübingen’s religious and architectural history.

The Buchfinkenlandhalle hosts concerts, parties, carnival gatherings, and theater performances. The program may vary by season. If you are planning your visit around a specific event, check the latest dates.

Hiking Trails in the Buchfinkenland

The hiking area includes extensive forests, meadows, and valleys to explore away from roads and noise. The Buchfinkenland Nordic Walking Park covers around 50 kilometers and has seven interconnected routes of varying difficulty. Both the overall size of the park and the different difficulty levels can help you choose a route.

The signposted Buchfinkenland circular trails connect Hübingen, Gackenbach, and Horbach. They pass through forests and meadows without using busy roads. It is advisable to check local trail conditions before setting out. Between Hübingen and Winden, the historic Köhler hiking trail follows in the charcoal burners’ footsteps; one of its features is a reconstructed tunnel entrance. You should also check current local conditions before taking this trail.

The 4.5-kilometer “Wasser.Wiesen.Wolken” (Water. Meadows. Clouds.) themed trail runs around the Hübingen Family Holiday Village. It combines hiking with nature education and opened in 2024. The trail is designed for children, with three stations that explain water, soil, and air through play. As the signage may change, check its current status before your hike.
