Lauta offers several different points of interest for a stay: Tornoer Teich in the south, a Garden City Cycling Tour, a themed trail and the Laubusch Local History Museum. Each offers a different focus and scale.

Leisure at Tornoer Teich

At Tornoer Teich in the south of Lauta, there are two sandy beach areas, a volleyball court, a playground, a snack bar, an open-air event stage and opportunities for fishing. The different facilities give you several options for planning your day: you can focus on the beach areas, sports and games, or fishing. Individual facilities and their operation may change; before your visit, check the status of the facilities that matter to you.

Garden Cities and Themed Trail

The approximately 39-kilometre Garden City Cycling Tour is a circular route connecting Marga and Lauta with Erika in Laubusch. Along the way, you can explore the planned residential areas, gardens and green spaces of the garden city settlements. This draws attention not only to the places themselves, but also to their planned layout and surrounding open spaces.

The approximately 2-kilometre themed trail leads from Tornoer Teich to Johannisthal. At 14 stations, information panels interpret topics relating to early industrialisation, the raw materials used in glassmaking and the area's mineral resources. Two covered shelters provide an opportunity to rest and picnic. This gives the trail a different focus from the Garden City Cycling Tour: the trail explores industrial history and raw materials, while the tour focuses on planned residential areas, gardens and green spaces.

History at the Laubusch Local History Museum

The Laubusch Local History Museum presents the history of the former Sorbian settlement of Lubus and the mining community of Laubusch. The subjects covered also include local schools and churches, as well as the development of lignite mining. The museum complements the themes of the routes with a historical perspective on the settlement and its community. Visits are by prior arrangement; coordinate your visit in advance and confirm it again before you come.
