Explore Radebeul through its wine-growing tradition, historic vineyards and culture. During your stay, you can choose from walks through the countryside, insights into Saxon wine-growing traditions, and literary and theatrical offerings. The places and activities offer a range of experiences—from vineyard trails to exhibitions and theatre performances.

Wine-Growing Trails and Hoflößnitz

The RebkulTour is a walking route through hidden vineyards and past historic sites; it also offers beautiful views of Radebeul. The old vineyard walls and terraces visible along the way document the area’s former wine-growing traditions. If you would also like to explore the history of this landscape, Hoflößnitz offers a different perspective: it is home to the Saxon Wine Museum. The museum covers the history of wine-growing in Saxony and the work of Radebeul’s vintners.

Wine from Hoflößnitz’s organic vineyards is served on the wine terrace. The Hoflößnitz Vinothek offers wines, sparkling wines and spirits from its own vineyards, as well as wines from around 30 other Saxon vintners; tastings are also available. The selection and venue arrangements may change. If you have a particular selection or tasting in mind, it is best to check the current offerings in advance.

Weinbergstraße also brings together a range of ways to discover wine: you’ll find wineries, wine courtyards and wine bars offering themed tastings and vineyard tours. The individual businesses may change, so if you have specific plans, it’s worth checking the latest visitor information.

Winery, Steep-Slope Vineyards and Garden

Schloss Wackerbarth offers daily tours of its modern wine and sparkling wine production facility. The schedule may change, so check the dates before your visit. The estate’s Radebeul vineyards include the premium steep-slope sites Goldener Wagen, Wackerbarthberg and Paradies. The garden also has its own distinctive character: it preserves the Baroque symmetry of a French formal garden. Here, insights into wine production go hand in hand with historic garden design.

Getting Around by Train and Bike

The Lößnitzgrundbahn runs for 16.6 kilometres from Radebeul via Moritzburg to Radeburg. Its route serves eleven stations and crosses 19 bridges. You can combine the train journey with an Elbland cycling tour, as bicycles can be stowed in the bicycle carriage. Bicycle transport arrangements may change, so check the current rules before travelling.

Literature and Theatre

Karl May lived and worked in Radebeul, where he wrote his Winnetou books. The Karl May Museum comprises Villa Shatterhand and a permanent exhibition on Karl May’s life and work. For literature enthusiasts, it offers a museum-based exploration of his work alongside the story of his life and career in Radebeul.

The studio stage at Theater Radebeul presents small-scale productions, children’s theatre and experimental forms. A tram and bus stop is located right outside the theatre. The Landesbühnen Sachsen/Weintraube S-Bahn station is about 500 metres away. Check current services before travelling, as local transport information may change.
