Fleckeby lies between the Schlei and the Hüttener Berge. Several themes come together when planning a trip: access to the Schlei for water sports, activities in the surrounding protected landscapes, and a historic walking trail through the village. When choosing a destination, you can weigh up whether water, outdoor activities, or local history is most important for your stay.

Access to the Schlei and activities

Fleckeby has access to the Schlei for sailing and motorboating, as well as moorings. A regional historical brochure documents a local marina with 60 moorings. Check marina facilities and availability with the local operator before your arrival.

The surrounding protected landscapes offer opportunities for hiking, cycling, swimming, and sailing. Check local access conditions before your trip.

Local history and café

A historic walking trail leads from the Hardesvogtei to the Schlei and back through the village center. The Hardesvogtei houses an exhibition on the history of the former Harden in the Duchy of Schleswig.

The Kunst-Café Fleckeby is located on the edge of the village. It serves cake and hand-filtered egg coffee, and sells arts and crafts; its offerings also include a seasonal garden with more than 150 rose varieties. Café opening and seasonal garden details may change. Check what is currently available before visiting.

Getting there

Fleckeby is accessible by road via the A7 and B76.

The wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde area

In the wider Rendsburg-Eckernförde destination, the district has a signposted cycle network stretching 1,000 kilometers. The district is home to four nature parks, which consist largely of nature and landscape conservation areas and provide habitats for a diverse range of animal and plant life. The 180-kilometer Nature Park Hiking Trail runs through these four nature parks. The cycle network describes an offering at district level, while the Nature Park Hiking Trail is a single route through the nature parks.

The European long-distance hiking trail E1, marked throughout with a white St. Andrew’s cross, runs through the Hüttener Berge, the Brekendorf Forest, and over the Aschberg. In fine weather, the 98-meter-high Aschberg offers panoramic views as far as the Kiel Canal, Eckernförde Bay, and the state capital of Kiel. The district has 55 kilometers of Baltic Sea coastline; Eckernförde has a four-kilometer-long white sandy beach.

The Westensee-Obere Eider Nature Park is characterized by numerous lake complexes in the Schleswig-Holstein Uplands. It includes Westensee, covering around 7 km², a popular destination for day trips; the banks of the Eider in the nature park provide a habitat for kingfishers. The region’s history also includes Rendsburg’s old town, which originated in the 13th century and still features medieval buildings, and the Dutch windmill in Groß Wittensee, built in 1874. Eckernförde is associated with smoking sprats and other small fish; the famous “Kiel sprats” actually come from the fishing town.
