Senta Windmill: history and visiting

Senta Windmill is a historic monument at Mühlenweg 1 in Todenbüttel and is considered the town’s landmark windmill. It was built in 1871, lost its sails in 1931 and was restored to its complete form in 1980. A wine festival is held at the mill every year; check the specific dates before your trip. A brochure for visiting Senta is available to buy in Todenbüttel. If you are planning a visit, ask about opening times in advance.

Dreieinigkeitskirche: a neo-Gothic building with older reliefs

Dreieinigkeitskirche was consecrated on 5 October 1863 in the neo-Gothic style. It is a single-nave neo-Gothic brick building with a 40-metre-high west tower. The altar is adorned with four oak reliefs dating from 1597. They were created well before the church building was consecrated, adding an older historical element within the building. The church and organ are protected as historic monuments. “Single-nave” means that the church interior has just one nave.

The Au, meadows and woodland as part of the townscape

Todenbüttel is considered a green church village. Woodlands, meadows and the Au invite visitors to relax; the Todenbütteler Au flows through the town. Further north, the watercourse continues as the Haaler Au and reaches the Kiel Canal about six kilometres north of Todenbüttel. The Haaler Au area is designated as a Natura 2000 and FFH site and also includes a European bird sanctuary.
