Rausdorf lies on the Corbek, amid meadows, fields and wooded hills. At the edge of the Grander Tannen, considered an extension of the Stormarn Switzerland, open countryside meets wooded heights. You can combine different interests when choosing your destination here: walking paths and riding trails are part of the local landscape, as are cycling tours connected to the Brunsbach.

Countryside along the Corbek

Rausdorf is part of the Corbek, Brunsteichbach and Brunsbach Landscape Conservation Area. Its southeastern section stretches along the Corbek between Rausdorf and Witzhave. The protected area lies where the Geest meets the hill country. The landscape thus encompasses everything from the watercourse and open spaces to the wooded hills around the village.

If you are planning your trip around the scenery, these local features provide a clear guide: the Corbek, the open countryside and the wooded slopes at the edge of the Grander Tannen. Walking paths complement this landscape, while riding trails offer another focus for your plans.

Cycling tours connected to the Brunsbach

There are two Brunsbach connections to consider when choosing a route. The Stormarn Cycling Tour 21 is 31 kilometres long and passes through streams, floodplain corridors and the Sachsenwald forest. Its stretch across the open countryside reaches the Brunsbach just before Rausdorf, where the stream flows into the Corbek. Another cycling tour runs from Trittau through valleys, over old railway embankments, and through the forests and lakes of the Stormarn Switzerland. This route particularly highlights the winding, tree-lined stretch of the Brunsbach beyond Rausdorf.

At 31 kilometres, Tour 21 offers a specific reference point for planning; the route from Trittau focuses mainly on the Brunsbach stretch. This lets you compare the routes by their different points of interest without conflating their landscape details.

Riding trails and facilities

Rausdorf has several riding stables and riding trails. The Rausdorf Riding and Driving Club (Reit- und Fahrverein Rausdorf e.V.) has two indoor arenas, an outdoor riding arena and a grass show-jumping course. Prior arrangements may be required for non-members to use the facilities. If you are considering using the club’s facilities, it is best to clarify the terms before your trip.

The riding area around Rausdorf includes the Sachsenwald, Hahnheide and Grander Tannen. Access and conditions may vary. For planning purposes, local riding trails, riding stables and possible use of the club’s facilities are therefore separate considerations. Check directly in advance whether an option relevant to you is available and whether any arrangements are required.

Stormarn in a wider context

Beyond Rausdorf, Stormarn offers further regional points of interest. Stormarn is in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, between Hamburg and Lübeck, and is well suited to day trips. The region is characterised by extensive woodland and moorland landscapes. Regional options include more than 20 circular cycling tours and BahnRadWege routes along disused railway lines. Stormarn’s largest nature reserve, Hahnheide, offers extensive hiking opportunities.

Stormarn is also worth exploring for its food: farm shops across the region sell a variety of local produce directly from the fields. These regional attractions complement Rausdorf’s local scenery and routes without replacing them.
