Dávod can be explored through three distinct features: the Ferenc Canal, the spa in Dávod-Püspökpuszta and the Bácskai Pilgrimage Route. These details may point to different reasons for choosing a hotel in Dávod: exploring the town, planning a visit to the spa or including a tour in your stay. Which focus suits you depends on what you would like to do during your trip.

Waterway and seasonal spa

The Ferenc Canal is a branch of the Danube and runs through Dávod and Püspökpuszta as a small river. It also divides the two settlements. A description published in 2021 lists the spa in Dávod-Püspökpuszta as a seasonal visitor attraction: the nine-hectare park includes a water slide park and five pools. It describes a medicinal water pool at 33–35 °C and a 33-metre swimming pool at 21–26 °C. The information thus distinguishes between a higher-temperature medicinal water pool and a longer swimming pool with a lower temperature range. If a visit to the spa is central to your trip, check the opening days for the relevant summer season in advance.

Pilgrimage route and February event

The two-day Bácskai Pilgrimage Route passes through Dávod along the EuroVelo 13 cycling route. This means that a multi-day tour is another possible reason to visit, alongside the seasonal spa. If you plan to include the route in your itinerary, check its current course in advance. A report from March 2025 names the Püspökpuszta pike goulash cooking competition in Dávod as an event held on the last Saturday in February and describes it as recurring. If you plan a trip around the competition, confirm the date for that year’s event.

Culture and nature in the wider destination of Bács-Kiskun

The wider destination of Bács-Kiskun offers further cultural and historical themes. In Tiszaalpár, the Tiszaalpár, Földvár educational trail presents the history of a Bronze Age fortified settlement and the way of life of people during the Bronze Age. The Tiszaalpári Földvár is a specially protected archaeological site; it was designated under Decree 3/2003. (I. 25.) NKÖM. Also in Tiszaalpár, a reconstruction of an Árpád-era village, built for the millennium celebrations, depicts the settlement layout discovered during local excavations.

At the Kiskunhalas Lace House and Lace Museum, visitors can learn about the history of Halas lace, which began in 1902. They can view centuries-old lacework and gain insight into the lace-embroidery process. This complements the archaeological themes with a glimpse into craftsmanship and textile history.

The educational trails in Bács-Kiskun also cover different topics. The Boróka educational trail in Bugac is 1,100 metres long and features information boards and interactive stations, including a forest xylophone and a play telescope. The blue-green algae educational trail at Lake Szelidi covers the lake’s development, the properties of its water, the organisms living there and the surrounding wildlife at twelve information stations. It is accessible on foot and by bicycle year-round. Together, they offer a trail with playful stations and one focused on the lake.

When to visit and finding a hotel

The local attractions vary considerably by season: the spa is associated with the summer season, the cooking competition with a February date, and the pilgrimage route with a two-day tour.
