Harkány offers two clear points of interest for planning a trip: its medicinal waters and the water attractions at Harka Vízivilág, as well as churches and art in the town. If you are looking for hotels in Harkány, these themes can help you choose accommodation that suits your interests. The places and features below offer specific points to consider when making your choice.

Medicinal waters and water attractions

Harkány’s medicinal water rises to the surface from a depth of 50 to 70 metres. Its average temperature is 62 °C; each litre contains more than 1,000 milligrams of minerals.

At Harka Vízivilág, guests can slide into the pool on the yellow and blue Turbó I–II slides. The facilities also include a diving tower and a climbing wall. A lazy river, a bubble pool and a family slide add to the water attractions. Before your visit, it is advisable to check the latest information about the facilities.

The covered Fedett Gyermekvilág has two modern children’s pools with interactive features. The paddling pool includes a waterfall and a treasure cave. The 50-centimetre-deep pool for older children has a pirate ship slide and a water cannon.

Harka Vízivilág’s spacious outdoor pool, divided into two sections, has several swimming lanes as well as built-in seating and sunbathing benches. The facility combines swimming lanes with areas suited to relaxing, chatting and unwinding.

Churches and art in the town

The Reformed church on Kossuth-Lajos Street was built in 1802 in the late Baroque Copf style. Another Reformed church is in the Terehegy district. Dating from 1798, it is a protected historic monument. The church in Terehegy was therefore built four years earlier; it is also designated as a protected historic monument.

Another cultural landmark is the artwork Millenniumi Országalmás, unveiled in 2000. Porcelain images in the style of the initials of medieval codices run across the globe.

More cultural attractions in the wider destination of Baranya

The wider destination of Baranya also has its own cultural attractions. In Pécs, the Early Christian Necropolis of Sopianae comprises decorated tombs from the 4th century. They were built as underground burial chambers with above-ground memorial chapels and adorned with richly detailed Christian wall paintings.

The Zsolnay Cultural Quarter offers another way to explore culture and family history. Its exhibitions include “Golden Age of Zsolnay”, “Pink Exhibition” and an exhibition on the history of the family and the factory. Children can also enjoy outdoor playgrounds, an interactive lab, a planetarium and the Bóbita Puppet Theatre. A ceramic painting workshop and classes at the Hercules Workshop add to these offerings. Siklós Castle is one of the most significant Renaissance buildings in Hungary within the wider destination of Baranya.
