Accommodation in Rácalmás
Rácalmás combines cultural and historical points of interest with nature experiences and several themed routes. If you are looking for a hotel in Rácalmás, you can choose what to focus on during your stay: local history, island nature, or trails of varying lengths. The routes differ in both theme and length; the island also has an educational trail and information boards.
Cultural History in Rácalmás
Jankovich-kúria was built in the 1750s. Its construction period makes the building a historical landmark in Rácalmás. The tours complement this architectural focal point with other sights and religious memorial sites. This lets you explore local history through a single building and along routes covering different themes.
Island Nature and Educational Trail
Rácalmási Nagy-sziget and its surrounding island landscape have been a nature reserve and part of Duna-Ipoly National Park since 1996. An educational floodplain trail runs through the island’s landscape. Along the forest paths on Rácalmási Nagy-sziget, 17 stops with large, colorful information boards offer insights into the area’s wildlife, plant life and history. The island’s themes therefore include both natural history and the history of the area.
Comparing the Tours
Four named tours differ in length and focus. The 2.5 km “Kastélyok, Kúriák” passes former castles and mansions in the town. “Ófalu” covers 4.6 km and leads to sights from Rácalmás’s past. The 14 km “Nagy-sziget” passes the ecotourism educational trail and also explores the island’s unspoiled southern side. The 15 km “Szakrális Emlékhelyek” leads to local religious-history memorial sites. Two significant detours allow you to shorten this tour as you wish. The two shorter routes cover historical themes; the longer ones differ in their focus on island nature and religious history. The 2.5 km route is the shortest; the 4.6 km tour is 2.1 km longer. At 14 and 15 km, the two longest routes differ by just 1 km.
A Past Festival
Jankovich-kúria was the venue for the Rácalmási Tökfesztivál. The festival was held there for the 22nd time from September 18 to 20, 2026. The program for that edition brought together culture and gastronomy, featuring music and art performances, folk art and crafts, exhibitions, and tastings of Hungarian and international food and drinks.
In the Greater Destination of Székesfehérvár
The Pákozdi Ingókövek can be reached from Pákozd via several hiking trails that are also suitable for cycling. A geological educational trail, established in 1994, connects the rock formations. At Lake Velence, reed beds provide habitat for thousands of water birds. These geological and landscape features are part of the greater destination of Székesfehérvár and form a distinct regional focus.
