If you are looking for a hotel in Cserkeszölö, this destination offers several different reasons to visit: thermal baths, nature watching, cultural history, and a traffic education facility for children. Thermal water connects some of these themes, while the other places have their own stories and activities.

Thermal Water and Bath Complex

Thermal water was discovered in Cserkeszőlő in 1943 during a drilling operation to explore for hydrocarbons. The water contained large amounts of dissolved minerals. Today, Cserkeszőlő Gyógy- és Strandfürdő has 19 swimming pools, slides, and beach volleyball and beach soccer courts. In addition to the pools, the facilities include slides and sports areas.

The complex covers about 7.5 hectares. Some of the pools are also open in winter. The size and seasonal information give you two specific points of reference when planning a visit to the baths as part of your trip.

Nagy-Fertő and the Aranyosi Oaks

Nagy-Fertő is a natural marshland protected by law. It is continuously supplied with thermal water discharged from the Cserkeszőlő beach baths. The water does not freeze in winter and provides an important wintering area for several bird species. This means that the colder months offer two distinct connections with nature and bathing: some pools remain open, while the marshland serves as a habitat for overwintering birds.

Another natural attraction is the Aranyosi tölgyfák (Aranyosi Oaks), southwest of Cserkeszölö. They can be reached by bicycle in about 15 minutes. According to local tradition, their acorns were planted in the sand in the 1850s; today, eleven pedunculate oaks (Quercus robur) remain. Here, the focus is on both a local tradition and a specifically identified stand of surviving trees.

Baghy-Szinyei Merse Kúria

Baghy-Szinyei Merse Kúria in Cserkeszőlő-Tópartpuszta originated as a steward’s residence built in the 19th century. After Kandó Irén married Szinyei Merse Félix, the building was later expanded. The Kúria’s wine cellar has been a protected historic monument since 1983.

The Kúria features permanent and temporary exhibitions. Visitors can sample various local wines, wine jelly made from them, spirits, soft drinks, and coffee in the demonstration kitchen. The combination of exhibitions and the demonstration kitchen brings cultural history and local products together in one place.

Understanding Water and Practicing Traffic Rules

Kútház offers a different focus from the bathing pools: an interactive exhibition and tactile displays explain the origin and composition of the thermal water. Visitors can also observe medicinal water well No. I, taste its water, and experience its healing effects. This places both learning about the water and a hands-on experience at the well in the spotlight.

At Cserkeszőlői Gyermek Autós Közlekedési Park, the KRESZ Park, children learn traffic rules through play. After a short introduction and a practice lap, they receive a personalized plastic driving license with a photo. It is valid for two years for class A vehicles in the park.
