When looking for a hotel in Nyársapát, you can consider whether cycling, local history or an event is the main reason for your trip. The local attractions vary: alongside infrastructure, there are buildings and memorial sites, a group activity and events. If a particular date is important for your trip, plan around the dates announced for it.

Cycling in Nyársapát

A two-way open cycle lane was established on the section of József Attila út within the town, from Vasút utca to the edge of the built-up area. It is 1,286.54 metres long and 1.25 metres wide.

The Municipality of Nyársapát used HUF 175.06 million in non-repayable funding to renew and improve the safety of 692 metres of cycle path, and to build a total of 1,761.44 metres of new cycling facilities. A cycle lane is a clearly marked section of road; the funding figures refer to the length of cycle path renewed and the total length of new facilities built. These give you two different measures of cycling in Nyársapát: a specific road facility and the scope of a municipal project.

Local history and cultural sites

At the Szarka Mihály Közösségi Ház, a public museum exhibition venue, a memorial room commemorates its former owner, Szarka Mihály. In the 1850s, he was a colleague of Arany János at the Nagykőrösi Református Gimnázium. The memorial room thus connects local remembrance with Szarka Mihály’s professional relationship with Arany János.

The circular Catholic church was built to designs by Török Ferenc and consecrated on 15 May 2004 in honour of Boldog Apor Vilmos. The murals are by local artist and teacher Tóth Tibor. The building’s form, its consecration and the murals bring together architectural, religious and local artistic connections.

The archaeological history includes finds unearthed during excavations in the 1920s and 1940s at the church ruins, the cemetery and the manor house ruins. To preserve them, they were covered again; a cross erected by the municipality marks the site of the church ruins.

Groups, festivals and motorsport

A 2021 municipal newsletter described a forest school programme at the restored Nyilasi School, where small groups of pupils and groups of friends can experience rural life, the nature of the Great Hungarian Plain, peace and fresh air. If you are planning a group visit of this kind, check the current arrangements in advance.

The park of the Szarka-kúria hosts municipal celebrations and events, including the Lecsófesztivál and the Szüreti Mulatság. If you would like to visit Nyársapát for one of these festivals, check the dates for that year’s event before setting your travel dates.

The Nyársapáti Motocross Egyesület motocross track is located on Ugyeri út. According to a regional tourism association, it usually hosts two national motocross races a year. If you would like to plan your trip around a race, check the announced event date.
