If you’re looking for a hotel in Bonyhád, you can plan your stay around the town’s different attractions: Bonyhádi Termálfürdő offers pools and water attractions, while Szecska tó is a place for afternoon walks. Museums, buildings and recurring cultural events offer other perspectives. This lets you plan separately for bathing, museums and architecture, as well as a possible event date.

Thermal Baths and Walks

Bonyhádi Termálfürdő has a leisure pool and a swimming pool with 25-metre lanes. Other water attractions include a slide, a slide pool bay, a current channel, a geyser and neck showers. The sitting pool has a water temperature of 38°C and six back-massage features. The pools and attractions can therefore be distinguished by their respective focus: swimming lanes, leisure and slide facilities, and the sitting pool with its massage features.

Szecska tó offers a different option for planning your day. Its water surface covers five hectares, and the lake is suitable for afternoon walks. Bonyhád’s attractions thus cater to two distinct interests: bathing in various pools and enjoying the attractions, or taking an afternoon walk.

History and Buildings

The park belonging to Perczel-kúria has been a nature reserve since 1975. Perczel Mór was born at Perczel-kúria in 1811. The Ermel-Vojnits Mausoleum was built between 1905 and 1907 to designs by Sándor Aigner, in the late historicist style. The park, kúria and mausoleum thus represent different aspects of local history: a protected park, a historic birthplace and a building with a named architect and a clearly defined date.

The religious buildings also offer specific historical reference points. The Catholic church in Bonyhád was consecrated in 1782 in the Baroque style. A large synagogue was consecrated in the town in 1795; both synagogue buildings are now privately owned. These dates and details help place Bonyhád’s building history in context, from the consecration of the church to the history of the synagogues.

Museums with Different Focuses

The Óvoda Múzeum presents the history of kindergarten education in Bonyhád since 1882. Its exhibition is interactive: visitors are allowed to touch the exhibits and use them for play. Engagement with the themes is therefore not limited to viewing the exhibits; touching and playing are part of the exhibition concept.

The Tűzoltó Múzeum focuses on a different aspect of history. Its permanent exhibition traces the history of firefighting from the guilds to the present day, including the volunteer fire brigade. The gallery shows the work of state and volunteer firefighters in Bonyhád. The museum thus offers both a broad overview of firefighting history and a specific look at the work of the town’s firefighters.

Events and Travel Planning

The “KNIPL KFT.” TARKA FESZTIVÁL is a recurring gastronomic and cultural event in Bonyhád and the Völgység region. It takes place on the second weekend of August and was held for the 23rd time in 2025. The 2025 program featured spit-roasted ox served in Kaszinókert. If you’d like to plan your trip around the festival, check the specific event dates in advance.

Another regional cultural event is the international folklore festival “Bukovinai Találkozások.” It is held annually and celebrates the region’s traditions. Together with TARKA FESZTIVÁL, it shows that cultural events have different focuses: one is gastronomic and cultural, while the other is international and folkloric.
