Fadd combines Danube backwaters, walks and fishing with local history, exhibitions and a market that is open year-round. If you’re looking for hotels in Fadd, you can first consider whether the waterside landscape and nature or cultural attractions will play a bigger role in your stay. The various places offer different highlights: Volent-öböl is associated with walking and fishing, while the park, churches and Mítosz Mesegaléria offer other specific points of interest.

Danube backwaters and nature in Fadd

Volent-öböl is a holiday area developed around a bay in the Danube backwaters. Fadd-Dombori is situated along the Faddi Duna-holtág. Both places are connected to the water, but in different ways: Volent-öböl is described as a holiday area around a bay, while Fadd-Dombori is defined by its location along an oxbow lake.

Another connection with nature is Faddi Duna-part. The area is designated in Fadd as a locally significant nature reserve. A softwood floodplain forest of willows and poplars is the dominant plant community there. This gives a more precise picture of the landscape: alongside the Danube backwaters, Fadd is home to a specifically named, protected natural area with floodplain vegetation.

Walks, fishing and Bartal-park

Visitors come to Volent-öböl for walks and fishing. Bartal-park has a walking path, a playground and an outdoor exercise area. The places therefore offer different things: by the water, walking and fishing are specific reasons to visit; the park combines a path with play and exercise areas. When planning your time in Fadd, you can choose between them based on which of these activities interests you.

Local history and churches

The Faddi Életfa symbolizes Fadd’s 1,000-year history. Two churches also offer a specific connection to local history: the Catholic Szentháromság-templom was built in 1864, while the Reformed church is Fadd’s oldest building. Szentháromság-templom also has an organ made in 1880 at József Angster’s organ workshop in Pécs. The years therefore refer to different things: 1864 to the construction of the church, and 1880 to the making of its organ. For the Reformed church, by contrast, its status as Fadd’s oldest building is the key historical point.

Exhibitions and group activities

Mítosz Mesegaléria features an art exhibition made up exclusively of the gallery’s own works, as well as a permanent ethnographic exhibition. For groups, the gallery offers age-appropriate guided tours and craft demonstrations on request. These include pottery, wood carving and glass painting. If you would like to arrange one of these group activities, request it in advance; the tours and demonstrations are for groups and require a request.

Faddi Termelői Piac

Faddi Termelői Piac is open year-round and welcomes vendors, shoppers and interested visitors. The market adds another possible focus for a visit alongside nature and culture. As opening arrangements can change, check the current opening hours before your visit.
