Garabonc – Farm Experiences, Village Culture and Cycling Route
Accommodation in Garabonc
Garabonc offers several options to consider when planning a trip: farm activities, exhibitions and village culture, as well as a named cycling route section. When choosing a destination, you can weigh up which of these themes are of particular interest for your stay.
Farm Experiences and Exhibitions
The Garabonciás Farm offers horse riding and carriage rides in a covered wagon, a hunting carriage or a wedding carriage. Other activities include electric quad biking, archery and guided farm visits with animal encounters. These visits are arranged by appointment. So if you plan to visit the farm, allow time to arrange an appointment.
At the 7Vezér Történelmi Kalandpark, two permanent exhibitions can be visited with a purchased admission ticket. Check the latest visitor information before your visit. The exhibitions are therefore different from the activities at the Garabonciás Farm: here, the focus is on visiting exhibitions, while there, you can choose from rides, archery and guided visits.
Village History and Culture
A stone cross stands in front of Garabonc’s Roman Catholic church. It was erected in 1856 as a symbol of the old village. It connects a specific place in the village with a historical date and a traditional meaning. The traditional Angler’s Ball is considered one of the most important events in Garabonc. At the PajtaszĂnház, members of the theatre group perform their own plays. If you would like to include the Angler’s Ball or a performance in your travel plans, check the dates in advance.
Garabonc–Nagyrada Cycling Route
The Garabonc–Nagyrada cycling route section is 1,057 metres long. A report dated 31 August 2026 described the section as completed and handed over. The named cycling route also includes a cycle bridge over a stream. The route’s length and the bridge provide a specific point of reference for cycling in Garabonc, without requiring an assumed journey time or an onward route.
Zala as a Wider Travel Destination
The wider destination of Zala offers further landscape, cultural and activity themes. The Zalai Borvidék wine region developed on the slopes and plateaus of the Zalai-dombság and on the northwestern slopes of the Keszthelyi-hegység. It is the setting for István Fekete’s classic novels Tüskevár and Téli berek.
The natural and scenic places also vary considerably: the ruins of Rezi vár stand atop a 418-metre-high dolomite ridge on Meleg-hegy, overlooking the ZalaszántĂł Basin. The Azáleás-völgy in Zalaegerszeg’s AlsĂłerdĹ‘ is a special springtime attraction. Lake HĂ©vĂz is the world’s largest biologically active natural thermal lake. At the Kotsy-vĂzimalom in ZalaszántĂł, visitors can see a working overshot waterwheel mechanism measuring 390 cm.

Therapeutic treatments at Lake HĂ©vĂz are available by prior appointment only; appointments can be booked at the therapy reception of the Festetics Bath House.
Conditions also vary for activities. The Kápolnapuszta Bivalyrezervátum can be explored along a 1.5-kilometre walking trail with rest areas and viewpoints. Visitors may pet the tame animals every day during opening hours. The Water Buffalo Festival is held there every year in May or June; the exact date may vary from year to year. The AquaCity VĂzicsĂşszda- Ă©s ÉlmĂ©nypark in Zalaegerszeg offers special attractions for those seeking relaxation, thanks to its impressive size.
