When choosing Davoli for a stay, you can start by considering two types of landscape: the Ionian Coast and the mountain area. The coastal landscape includes clear waters and long stretches of golden sandy beach; in the mountain area, chestnut and beech forests shape the scenery. These different features provide an initial framework for planning your trip.

The coast and Davoli Marina

Davoli Marina is a well-equipped seaside resort on the Ionian Coast. This gives travelers interested in the coast a specific place to focus on. Davoli’s coastal landscape includes clear waters and long stretches of golden sandy beach. Mountains facing the sea are also part of this scenery. You can therefore explore Davoli’s coastal side both through the seaside-resort character of Davoli Marina and through the broader landscape.

The mountain area and nature trail

Chestnut and beech forests shape the natural landscape in the mountain area. It is also home to a named nature trail, “Il Sentiero del Tasso”: it runs through the mountain area of Davoli and along the Ancinalesca stream. The trail was inaugurated on May 31, 2026. As well as its forest types, the mountain area therefore offers a specific route to consider when planning your trip. The forests and the nature trail provide different points of reference for anyone who wants to understand Davoli beyond its coastal landscape.

Churches, the Santuario and Palazzo Felluso

The history of Davoli’s buildings offers another perspective on the town. The Chiesa di Santa Barbara was built between the late 15th and early 16th centuries; the period given for the Chiesa di San Pietro is between 1500 and 1600. The dates overlap in part but are framed differently: Santa Barbara is associated with the transition between two centuries, while the period for San Pietro includes the 16th century. This makes it possible to compare the two churches chronologically without presenting them as having been built at the same time.

A different historical event takes center stage at the Santuario della Misericordia: the sanctuary suffered severe damage in the 1783 earthquake. This reference to the 18th century adds a specific historical turning point to the churches’ construction dates.

Palazzo Felluso is associated with a different historical role. It was the summer residence of the Ravaschiera-Fieschi, Princes of Satriano. The term “summer residence” describes how the palace was used at the time and distinguishes it from the religious buildings. If you are interested in Davoli’s history, you can explore construction dates, an earthquake and the historical role of a palace as distinct topics.
