Accommodation in Villalta
Villalta is part of the municipality of Chions. Visitors planning a stay can explore the area through its cultural heritage, cycling and surrounding landscapes. These topics offer different perspectives: historic buildings can be placed in their historical context, while cycling routes connect different places and landscapes.
Cycling and a variety of routes
A circular route exploring historic villas and manor houses runs through Chions and Pravisdomini and partly follows the Ciclovia della Bassa Pianura Pordenonese (FVG 9). The route alternates between asphalt, gravel and cobblestones. These varied surfaces give the tour a distinctive character without limiting it to a single type of road.
Another cycling route leads from Sesto al Reghena via Cordovado and Chions to Taiedo. Its sequence of places offers a different way to navigate than the circular route: here, the route’s stops are named, while the circular route focuses on historic villas and manor houses as well as its changing surfaces.
Near Villalta, Parco delle Fonti at Torrate covers 80 hectares and has eight kilometres of cycling paths. This means that paths within a park complement routes connecting several places. Visitors interested in cycling can consider these different types of routes separately when planning their trip.
Towers, churches and culture
The surviving Torre di Sbrojavacca is a square brick tower, 20 metres high. The tower was first mentioned in a document dating from 1220. The Chiesa Parrocchiale di San Giorgio dates from 1400. In the municipality of Chions, which includes Villalta, the parish churches date from the 14th and 15th centuries. They contain valuable frescoes, most of which are attributed to the school of Bellunello.
Villa Perotti has also been restored and converted into a cultural centre. Together with the tower and churches, it represents another facet of the region’s cultural heritage: historic buildings alongside a later cultural use. These places offer different points of interest for travellers interested in architecture and history.
Landscape and places to unwind
An orthogonal pattern of roads and fields survives in the municipality of Chions, linked to the Roman centuriation of the Agro di Julia Concordia. Here, “orthogonal” refers to a right-angled arrangement of the landscape. The municipality retained its agricultural character until the recent past. Alongside its buildings, these features offer a perspective on the history of the landscape.
Sport fishing is possible at the artificial lake of Lago le Roste. The site also has a park and facilities for recreational activities. Fishing and general recreation are available here as separate activities.
Another explicitly historical perspective is associated with the Rio Lin. In local memory, it remained a natural outdoor sports venue for young people from Villalta; swimming, diving and other leisure activities were part of its former use. Thus, alongside architectural history and cycling routes, the picture of the area also includes memories of past leisure activities.
