Discover Welsberg-Taisten
Accommodation in Welsberg-Taisten
Welsberg-Taisten offers several distinct starting points for a stay: Welsperg Castle, the art of Paul Troger, leisure activities at Parco Prenninger and the weekly market in Welsberg. This lets you incorporate cultural history, outdoor activities and a specific market day into your travel plans. Each of the following places has its own particular focus.
Welsperg Castle and culture
Welsperg Castle is one of South Tyrol’s oldest and best-preserved castles. It is also a cultural venue, hosting changing exhibitions, concerts and events. The exhibitions change, while concerts and events add to this cultural focus. From Welsberg, you can reach the castle on foot via the “short castle loop” or the “Great Castle Loop”. These two names refer to two options for including the walk from Welsberg to the castle in your plans.
Paul Troger and the parish church
Monguelfo is the birthplace of the Baroque painter Paul Troger; four of his works can still be seen there today. The parish church of St. Margherita is in the town centre. This gives art lovers two specific points of interest: Troger’s origins and the church in the centre.
Between 1738 and 1739, Troger created three important paintings for the parish church of Santa Margherita: the altarpiece for the high altar and two side altarpieces. The commission can therefore be understood in terms of both the number of works and their function within the church.
Leisure at Parco Prenninger and in Monguelfo
At Parco Prenninger, well-maintained paths wind through extensive green spaces, including shady areas. A small stream invites you to wade and play in the water. There is also an adventure play area for children. The activities vary in nature: paths and green spaces shape your time outdoors, you can wade and play in the water by the stream, and the play area adds an activity specifically for children.
Adventure Golf in Monguelfo is next to the railway station. The course has nine artificial-turf lanes, each offering two different ways to play. Adventure Golf is therefore characterised both by the number of lanes and by the variations available on each lane. Compared with Parco Prenninger, the focus here is on playing the course; in the park, green spaces, paths, the stream and the play area shape what is on offer.
Weekly market in Welsberg
In 2026, a weekly market is held in Welsberg every Tuesday from 08:00 to 13:00 in the main square. Various stalls offer items including clothing, shoes and local products. If you want to include the market in your travel plans, check the current date before you travel. The fixed weekday and time slot give your visit a clear schedule; the goods on offer range from clothing and shoes to local products.
