Beachcomber Island
Accommodation in Beachcomber Island
Beachcomber Island combines water activities with cultural experiences, giving you several distinct reasons to plan a trip. When looking for a hotel on the island, it helps to first consider whether you’re most interested in snorkeling and diving, a day cruise, or activities offered by Beachcomber Island Resort. The options differ in itinerary and intended guests: some activities are part of the cruise, others are offered by the resort, and certain equipment is reserved for its guests.
Getting there and the day cruise
The day cruise to Beachcomber Island departs from and returns to Port Denarau. You can therefore plan it as an excursion that starts and ends in Port Denarau. Departure times may change, so check the latest times if you’re making other plans around them.
Separate from this are the speedboat transfers operated by Beachcomber Island Resort for its guests. The resort operates scheduled and unscheduled transfers, including outside its operating hours. Schedules and availability may change. If your plans depend on one of these transfers, check the latest information.
Snorkeling, diving, and water activities
Beachcomber Island offers snorkeling tours off its coast, including snorkeling directly from the beach and guided tours to another reef. There are also snorkeling trips to three reef sites. This lets you distinguish between snorkeling from the beach and guided excursions, and take the available reef sites into account when planning.
Diving is also available: dive trips to nearby reefs and dive sites take place daily. Introductory dives are for beginners with no prior experience. These are different ways to plan diving: a first dive without previous experience, or a trip to reefs and dive sites.
Beachcomber Island Resort provides its guests with snorkeling equipment, kayaks, bodyboards, and stand-up paddleboards free of charge. This offer is for resort guests. If the equipment is important to your plans, confirm its current availability in advance.
The resort’s handline fishing experience is another standalone activity with a set duration: it lasts one hour.
Turtles on Beachcomber Island
Visitors can see turtles up close in the Beachcomber Island Resort’s sanctuary pool. The resort also runs a Hatchling Headstart Program: turtle hatchlings are cared for in ponds until they are released. The sanctuary pool and ponds are two specific places to learn about different aspects of how the animals are cared for.
Fijian cooking and craft experiences
A day cruise includes a traditional cooking class on preparing Fijian kokoda, as well as basket weaving. Beachcomber Island Resort offers lovo cooking as a Fijian cultural experience. The two cooking options are different: kokoda is part of the cruise cooking class, while the resort offers lovo cooking. Basket weaving adds a craft to the cruise program. If you’d like to include cultural activities in your travel plans, this distinction helps you identify the context for each offer.
