Kosmów can be explored through two distinct themes: the parish church of St. Lawrence, with its varied furnishings, and a northern cycling stage that places the town between Stawiszyn and Krzyżówki. This gives you two clearly distinct focuses for planning your trip: the historic furnishings of a specific church and a described 28.5-kilometre cycling route. The church can be understood through its objects and dates; the route description places Kosmów in a sequence of places.

Parish Church of St. Lawrence: Register and Furnishings

The parish church of St. Lawrence in Kosmów is entered in the monument register under number KI.IV – 73/98/54, dated 12 June 1954. This makes it possible to distinguish the register entry from the dates of the individual furnishings: 1954 refers to the entry, while the altars, paintings, and other objects have their own dates.

The main altar and the side altars can be distinguished in the altar area. The Baroque main altar dates from the first half of the 18th century; its superstructure contains a late Renaissance painting of the Holy Family from the first half of the 17th century. The two Baroque side altars are dated 1754. Their Ionic columns and depictions of the Holy Family and Saints Valentine, Roch, Sebastian, and Lawrence give this part of the church its own visual arrangement. The dates refer to different objects: the painting is older than the main altar, while 1754 is the date of the two side altars.

There are also named pictorial subjects beyond the altars. Two Baroque illusionistic wall paintings are located on the church ceiling. They depict the Holy Trinity and the Madonna and Child. A Baroque pulpit with paintings of the four Evangelists stands in the presbytery. Thus, both the subjects of the ceiling paintings and the Evangelists stand out as distinct groups in the furnishings.

Other furnishings add different styles and periods: a late Gothic crucifix from the 15th century is located on the rood screen beam. The late Neoclassical baptismal font dates from the early 19th century; the late Neoclassical organ case is from around the middle of the 19th century. Together with the painting of the Holy Family, the furnishings mentioned here span the 15th to the 19th century. This sequence helps show that the church cannot be assigned to a single stylistic period: Baroque altars and pulpit stand alongside objects classified as late Gothic, late Renaissance, and late Neoclassical.

Another commemorative site in Kosmów is the war grave of a soldier of the Polish Army. It adds a distinct place of remembrance to the art-historical perspective of the parish church. When considering the town, you can thus distinguish between church furnishings and a military memorial.

Kosmów on a Northern Cycling Stage

A route description published on 16 July 2025 lists a 28.5-kilometre northern cycling stage. The route runs from Stawiszyn via Kosmów to Krzyżówki. For planning your tour, both the total distance and the order of the places are specified: Kosmów lies between the two named places on the described stage. The cycling route and the parish church offer different starting points for planning your trip—a stage with a stated total distance and a church with furnishings from several centuries.
